Hey there,
I'm just curious whether its possible to re-wire my 2006 Stingray 5 HH's pickup switch.
According to these diagrams;
http://www.ernieball.com/mmonline/techinfo/controls/cfd_StingRay5_HH.pdf
My bass is wired in parallel for all but the center position which is 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 (all in series?). However If i remember correctly isn't the Stingray 5 HH center position 1 + 2 & 3 + 4 or 1 & 2 + 3 & 4? (& being parallel and + series).
Ive also noticed on the anniversary SR5 20th that its the same however the center position is all parallel.

Out of all 5 positions i LOVE and only really use the center position 3, which was the 1 + 2 + 3 + 4. So i will assume sonically that i like the 'series' wiring mode over the parallel.
Now to the real business... From reading the diagrams and playing my bass i have come to the conclusion that i really prefer Series over Parallel so i would like to ask all of you ernieballers if its possible (or if you have done this mod before) for me to re-wire the toggle switch so that all the positions are in series and not parallel.
Was also wondering if this makes any difference sonically to the center position (currently 1 + 2 + 3 + 4)? As in if i were to do this mod, would that change the tone or be the same because each toggle position is independent of the other?
One of the main reasons i want to do this is to make the pup switching more usable for my tastes... and i was also hoping that the 5th position 1&4 coils would sound more Jazz pup like in series rather that the current parallel setting which i find to woofy for me...

On a side note, ive found that the SR5 HH 1st position (1&2) which is the bridge pickup is different sounding to the SR5 H. I know in '99 the rear pickup in first position was parallel as you'll see in the diagram below so im assuming that the new SR5's which i played recently in a music store is wired as 1+2 in series?... and i actually really like that sound...but anyway... If you know whether the new SR5 H are wired in series or parallel that would be great information
