I can’t believe this but I think it’s a step in the right direction. There is a bass on eBay that before I discovered EBMM basses I would have bid five grand just for starters. In fact I got to the confirm bid page with 5000.00 in the box, and then I thought “what the hell are you doing!”

I’ve got a Bongo on order, a killer SR5 that blows away everything I already own, why blow money on an old bass, vintage though it may be, that will just hang on the wall. That same chunk of change would go a long way on new EBMM basses, who knows I may want a Bongo 5 or one of the new two pickup models.

I never thought I’d see the day that I would let a 1968 “mint” lefty J-bass pass by, but I’m not even going to look at eBay for the next 11 hours.

Let's see, five grand.....call me, I'll hook you up with four or five really good basses.

Stay away from eBay! It's evilBay!

Well I didn’t get up this morning with any intention of spending five grand on bass guitars. But there’s “evilBay” and this very evil bass called out to me. Even though this one is a 68, with no routing under the pickguard, all original… a maple fretboard… WITH BLACK BINDING AND THOSE BIG BLACK #$&*@!# BLOCKS!!!!! ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

… I have to look at it again… I might get it for a little over three grand…… NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

(Psycho now goes down to the basement into the secret vault under the floor, opens several steel doors, carefully locking each one behind him and lights some candles. There is a small alter, actually a concrete bench stolen from a Shoney’s Big Boy Restaurant and a picture of a fellow forum members’ ButterCream Bongo. He now marks a black X on the alter signifying another day closer to the coming of “Saint Lefty of Bongo”. Then turns to the blow-up Buddha in the corner, bearing a slight resemblance to “Big Poppa” minus the Hawaiian shirt, purchased at the Osaka airport and puts the credit cards at his feet and ask for him to bless them….)

Hey I feel better now, but I don’t know why?

I rarely look at eBay anymore. I used to look at every single new bass auction every day too.

Now everytime I get a little tanked up late at night and venture over there I wind up buying some oddball.

We should start a thread titled. "Things I bought on eBay while drunk".

I know Jack would have a few...here's one of mine.

I wouldn't even consider making any purchase over $500-600 (especially a bass) from a private party without getting my hands on it first!

That's what keeps me off of eBay.
