I have been making diver jokes all day Seriously Jackie I hope you get well soon!

It's not like anything else I've ever had, I can say that.

But Oxycodone first thing in the morning makes it matter a little less.

Now, how about that Rex!

Boss, this thing smokes.

Hi Jack,

Just read this thread. I hope you are feeling better soon. One positive note about diverticulitis is that is can disappear as fast as it appears in some cases. Here's hoping for the best for you.

Get well soon!

Our story so far:

Rex orders a Big Al (seen earlier in thread) from Pete DuBaldo, which, when ready, Pete ships to Ben (Oldtoe) so that Ben can play it for a bit. Unknown to yours truly, the next stop is Camp Bovine, where Ben drops it off so that I can experience the Big Al-titude in person.

Meanwhile, Markbass99 sends me a Blue Dawn Bongo 5HH. Under cover of night, Heinz the Wonder Bass takes flight for Sweden. In a related move, a 1964 Precision belonging to persons known only to Strummer arrives at my house. A Bongo 5 HS in Dargie Olive Green goes to Markbass99.

Somewhere a queen is weeping, and somewhere a king has no wife.

In the midst of all these at least semi-related moves, Paul (SmallEQ) begins to ditch high-priced boutiques at an alarming rate. Rumors abound that at least one instrument goes to Strangeglow.

In one of the strangest and least-expected developments, I find myself attracted to roundwounds. (This may be temporary.)

Rex slinks off to Bass Player Live and buys one of everything that Dave Jeffries doesn't buy first.

What it all means, in the end, is that the Big Al that I have here, which certainly belonged to Rex at some point, now belongs to Paul and is shipping out tomorrow to Chicago.

Need a flow-chart?

Jack

Jack, I really like the coated rounds on the Biker4Him/Strummer/Bovine Dargie. This may be the best sounding 5HS I've played so far, or is it the strings? I'm going to put the other set on the rosewood BFR 5HS and see what happens.

I'm also confused about the lineage on this one, maybe Strummer knows? If you go back to the 2007 era posts Biker4Him has gig pics with a DD 5HH Bongo along with some DD rays. I didn't see the HS anywhere so I was confused.

Hard to say. I played it with flats and thought it was a great instrument (note that it's what I gigged and I do have choices), but those new strings seem to have something extra. Curious to see what you think when you get them on the BFR!

You got me. Strummer can maybe tell you.

There is a term for what Rex did; it comes from another forum which is (thankfully) now kaput. It's called "pulling a Pathdoc" or, in verb form, "pathdocking".

We had a member who was a pathologist and occasionally traded or sold basses he'd not yet taken possession of.

the get off me, pa, you're crushing my smokes,

Jack
