I've only met one Rock Star:

Colin from Psychotherapy : Talk about a Rock Star personality, he doesn't let you look him in the eye, if you're leaving the room you have to walk out backwards so that you don't show him your back. He will only speak to you if you call him sir.

He always thinks he does better sound than the sound engineer.

I even heard a rumour that he wouldn't be in the wedding photos of one of his family members.

:D
You're so dead Simon....just remember who told you about Musicman in the first place?;)
BTW there's an 'ignore' list? I'll have to investigate further :)

I'll add Gary Puckett and band to the list. My old singer was playing bass for them back in '97 when they came through town, and I was invited to hang out backstage.

I even got to hop on stage to soundcheck the bass rig.

Gary and the rest of the band were very easy-going, especially his drummer. A very pleasant meeting.

When I said "you're so dead", I didn't really mean I wanted to put you thru a slow and painful death.;) I could never inflict that kind of cruelty on anyone.

plus ....it's really not realisically a good idea to size a person up on one brief encounter.
my 2 cents......

I couldn't agree more, Tommy. I have a couple of friends that are pro or semi-pro, and I've seen with my own eyes what performing musicians have to deal with. As i'm sure you know, it is a stressful occupation that stirs all kinds of emotions in the fans and the artists themselves. Most performers give their all at a gig, and afterwards they are usually exhausted and emotionally drained, and just want to relax and wind down. After the last Dregs show, Steve looked like he was about to collapse...but he still made time for every fan that hung around after...including me.

I saw an interview with a rock star ( I can't for the life of me remember his name right now), but he was saying how it is sometimes tough to be nice to fans, like when they are on tour, in hotel rooms, and he was saying how while trying to sleep there is all this screaming, and pounding on the door, and it's a pain to get up and let them out.

Simon and Colin, you guys crack me up!

You remind me of terence and phillip on SOUTH PARK.

Yeah it's all fun and games until Colin shows this thread to his wife... then I really am dead!

Actually Colin's wife is one of the most wonderful women you could ever hope to meet... (honest Fiona you are... I hope she reads this bit.. do you think she realises I'm pleading for my life here?)

She's having lunch with my wife today, if they get together on this one there is no telling how much pain I might be in.:D

ROTFLMAO

I met Luke about 2 years ago, when me and a mate flew to Jakarta, Indo to see Toto in concert, we happened to stay at the same hotel as the band, Luke was really nice, just what you expect him to be, l guess all you can say is, Luke is Luke, l think he was confused to hear we travel from Melbourne, Australia to Jakarta, indo just to see Toto, l also met David Paich on the same day, very nice guy, humble, both were very willing to have a chat, Luke actually saw us later and came over and had another chat. It was a very cool day.

That Andie McDowell story is priceless - good comeback - what the hell did she call your girlfriend a pig for?

Steve Buscemi - just ran away from you?

I didn't have anything to add but since we are drifiting into celebrities -I met the writer Neil Gaiman at a book signing -I took my stepson to get his copy of Wolves in the Wall signed.

At first I was freaking annoyed at the book store staff because I was in line for 3 hours. As it turns out the long wait was Gaiman's fault, instead of just signing he actually talked to my stepson and drew little cartoons in his book for him. He did this for everyone. I later checked his blog and he was there almost 8 hours.

oh boy: here goes... andie mcdowell was shopping in a victoria's secret that my at the time girlfriend worked at. she was looking for something that they didn't have, my GF suggested something that she didn't like, the word "pig" was sent my GF's way, I was loafing about trying to find out when she was getting off, etc... so I took my opportunity to express my admiration for her "work" in hudson hawk.

stebe buscimi (however you spell it) was waiting on a subway platform in NYC. I said, "hey, steve!" and he took off down the platform in the opposite direction. it was damned weird.

and I'm glad to see a fellow poster who likes gaiman. when I lived in america I fixed vintage fountain pens and got into a fairly long conversation with him at a signing in Charlotte over the Lamy 2000 that I gave him to sign my copy of American Gods with. he's extremly nice, isn't he?and for as much as I like Wolves in the Walls, Dave McKean's art in that book vastly overshadowed Gaiman's story. speaking of which: if you haven't seen Mirrirmask yet, you'll never forgive yourself if you dont. written by gaiman, shot and directed by mckean... it's just fantastic. and as I understand it, mckean is allegedly something of a guitar fan. he has a short film who's name I can't remember that's about god and the devil and the big bang being caused by god accidentally leaving the gas on in his house... and it's all set to the music of django reinhardt. very cool. amusingly, speaking of personalities, I recently bought my wife a piece of mckean's artwork and his offive - while I didn't get to speak directly to him- was SO astounding helpful in authenticating it... nice folks.

wow... WAY off guitar topic...

That would be Roth (as in DLR)..I remember him telling that story the first time VH passed thru town.

Jon, were you at EBMM while the EVH was still in production? If so, you must've worked with him, right?

No...It wasn't DLR....It's the guy who had the song..."No, I don't wanna fall in love" as the chorus, and in the video he and some topless model were rolling around in the sand.

No I came onboard in '96, after Wandering Eddie left to um, wander.
