S.U.B. finish...

Hello!
I have a project bass about to be begin that is kind'a the opposite of most of the ones I have found searching this forum... Basically.. I have a elm OLP and I just got a SUB neck [a real one...] and I plan on putting this neck on the bass now... I HATE the natural finished elm, it looks like a ikea end table... so I want to finish it with that textured paint used on the old SUBs! my guitarist has a SUB guitar as a backup for her Silhouette and I really like the industrial look and feel it has. So.. is there something I could get in a store that is similar? Thanks!

I've seen textured speckle spray paint
in the paint section [natch] at Walmart.
Thaz waaaaay industrial looking. You'll
hafta sand the surface of your current
finish to get good adhesion for the new.
I recently saw an ax in textured speckle
whose original gloss finish had not been
sanded and the texture paint was kinda
chunking off. You might also need some
kinda primer between the old and new.

Yeah I've seen that stuff.. not exactly the same thing, I'm more after a industrial look... most likely I'll just do it in flat black or black primer if I can't find the exact stuff.. which I haven't yet.

I dont know if its too late or not but maybe you could consider nail polish . It would it a plasticky finish look especially if you used the UV NAIL GEL that dries under the uv light in 1 minute .

We use to spray speaker cabinets with a paint called texturelac, that might be what you are looking for. Home depot use to sell some stuff we mixed with regular paint that was similar. Lot less expensive than the texturelac.

Hmm, that is neat and I will take that into thought.

But... I feel I have made up my mind to finish it in grey primer [which mean if I decide to try any of your guy's's ideas I still can ] I've always liked primered guitars so...

that spray-your-own truck bed liner stuff ? Kinda
like your flat black idea, but with texture. And, it's
gotta be more than tuffinuf for an ax if it's spozed
to suffer the stuff you load into a PU truck ....
