We're about to have a child in a few months and I'm worried all day and night that something will go wrong, but I stay strong...and when I read about what you're going through, I'm thankful for what I have. Good thoughts and wishes for long life and
health for everyone in your family man.

I'm waiting for him to get off the drugs so he can look at me like normal again, he looks stoned, or like a drummer. Hopefully later today they said they''ll ease the drugs. I'm dying to see the classic Tom smile i'm now so used to!

I get to go to work for a few hours now and play my AL's, i have 4 of them waiting there! Even the LE 07 AL is there.......

The LE 07 AL will exist plenty very soon.......unbelieveable.

By the way, thanks for letting me vent here on the forum, of course i understand its a guitar forum and not the place for all this mushy personal stuff, this thread doesnt belong here amongst all the EBMM love going around, but i am so happy to read it, it makes my day. Just like the AL pics thread does too!

I might need to purchase a new addition to my ball family, i guess i dont an excuse do i????

I don't venture over to the guitar side very often, but I just read this entire thread.

I'm not the praying type, but I'll send as many good vibes as little Tom can handle to the southern hemisphere. When he grows up to be a bass player as a result--my bad.

Good luck to you and yours, Rob.

I've been away on business for the past week and find myself alone tonight without my family so I thought I would get caught up on the EBMM happenings. I came across this post and spent the last 20 minutes reading each and every post from 1st to last.

I must first say that my thoughts and prayers are with your Rob and his family. It's a difficult time and there really isn't much that one can say. There never is the right words. Recently going through a difficult family issue myself, in my experience, it wasn't WHAT anyone said to me in my time of grief. It was simply the fact that there were SO MANY people who felt strongly about me and my family, that this knowledge that they were there helped me greatly. These were people who I knew and love and many from around the country who is didn't know so well, that reached out.

Look at the locations of the people who have reached out in this thread. I see many know you and I can assume that like me, they don't know you at all. But the common thread of compassion needs no family or life long friend. Just people who care and that gave me comfort that I was not alone in my temporarily tortured world.

Sterling, as a business owner, I was moved at your generosity and compassion. I know that you must be a blast to work for. I never really understood when people take up a cause after something terrible happens to them. Today, I finally got it. It isn't until you connected the dots that I learned that your quest to be part of the search for a cure for your son's disease, is the perfect response to those people who are looking for a comforting answer or a simple sounding board when they are up against the wall having to deal with what you already have. Its then that the negative energy can finally turn positive.

Thanks for the incredible enlightenment. I now have to go call my two girls and tell them that I love them.

PS: I would also like to know the address to where to send a donation to your cause.

I don't claim to have the answer for sure, but I would try starting here and see where that gets you:

Rob -

I'm still just stunned by this story and the outpouring of support you are getting. Hang in there! My 3rd child was born a week ago Tuesday and I know the concern that flows every minute of every day when a child is sick. We are all pulling for you, Tom, Belinda and the rest of your family who are so close to what is happening. I hope that getting your hands on your ALs for a little while can give you some relief from the stress. Wishing you all the best.

People think those dings and scratches and worn areas on your instrument are mojo?

No, that's just damage and wear.

This gathering of friends and acquaintances (both real and "imaginary", as my wife likes to say) - that is mojo.

I have been following this thread, and wanted to say something, but didn't because I felt like I don't know you well enough, or that I didn't have anything poignant enough to say, or...whatever. The fact is that even though I don't have a kid, the thought of having a child and then to come so close to having him torn from you scares the hell out of me, and I don't know anything I can say that would really make that okay. The only way it'll be okay is if he's okay, anything else is just coping as well as one can.

I'm writing this, and realizing I can't even stay positive just at the mere thought of going through what you are, Rob. But you're actually experiencing it, and you're able to make jokes and talk about your new guitar. Not denying that it's happening, but living anyway. That's real strength, and Tom is so very much better for it.

I'm tempted to write all this grand advice about finding meaning in adversity, but I can't imagine it will mean much to you right now. I'm trying to say what everybody else is saying, but being the godless heathen that I am I have no prayer to offer. But from where I stand, you look like a brave man, standing taller than I. That's all I can say.

BP: Thank you very much for sharing. You've helped me to learn something today.

Rob: Hang in there, I'll keep saying that. Be strong for your family. Know that whatever happens, you are loved and appreciated. There are many who are pulling for your boy to come through this.

This is sig worthy, right here. Think I'll start using it on the Gear Page forums. They've got a real thing for relics over there. :p

Rob, cute kid. As much as it hurts to see, he'll have a better chance to recover simply because he's younger. Amazing what the body can do while it's still growing.
