Nearly every thread over in the bass forum eventually goes far afield of where it began. Yesterday, we had one that started as "Guess what bass I bought" and ended up with shirts featuring Ursual The EBMM Buffing Robot.

Along the way, there were other things, too. Sure, by the end, it had zip to do with the bass that was purchased, but we had good participation and some truly hilarious moments.

I've seen threads go off topic in bad ways, too, but not often.

Someone once said that unexpected events are dancing lessons from God. Could be.

Everybodies idea of the forum is different, I like this one

Ya know, of all the forums I've frequented over the years (down to only a couple now), this one is definitely the most unique.

Yes, there are a lot of strong personalities that can be intimidating to new members at times. However, they will also go out of their way to make you feel better if you feel offended. It's definitely a much more mature atmosphere.

And best of all, the big guy is an active part of all of it!

It's really cool.

PS: Has anyone else wondered if it is really Sterling posting as Big Poppa? Has anyone actually seen him log on as BP and post? Are we all just being really gullible? ;) (Just kidding...)

I guess its hard to convey irony, I don't really get mad, just slightly annoyed. I'm all for threads mutating into strange unexpected areas. You guys have a good thing going on here and I'm happy to be part of it. Now who can tell me in a sentence or two what the hell a piezo is?

Acoustic sounding pickup...built into the bridge saddles.
Silo and albert use only an additional volume knob.
Luke, axis ss, and Pet use extra volume knob and pup lever.

Can be used alone or blended with magnetic pickups.

Hey guys,

I haven't posted here in a long time, but that's due to my crazy schedule these days. I read the forum every day (yep I lurk a lot), and reading all your posts just about makes my day all the time dominating personalities or not. I will work on posting more regularly I promise :) No words of praise are sufficient to describe this forum and I always go away with a smile on my face. Thanks BP and the EBMM staff and all the forumites for being who you are!

Dude! I love the combo cat tree guitar stand! You have to show me how to do that! I have two six foot trees in my living room that I could convert, then I'd always have a place to put my JP! ;) :D :D :D

I haven't laid eyes on him firing up the computer, but we do occasionally yak on the phone and I reckon I can more or less confirm that Sterling is really BP - or vice versa, if you will.

But Juan Guitarrez? Who knows what evil lurks in the minds of men?

Just drill a diagnal hole from the bottom of the cat "perch" (as they names this one) throuth the top of the base. This way, the back leg of the guitar stand can be attached with a bolt through the drilled hole...... Then grab a peice of wood and cu it long enough to rech the guitar stand from one of the "perch" supports.... start drilling some hols in the support rebove the neck holder of the guitar statnd. Drill a holein the board the size of the guitar stand shaft and put it around the stand. Replace the neck supporter. Now bolt the board to the perch. Before you put the board on, you might want to get the half carpeted and half panted to match the stand and cat toy. Either way you're done! WOOO!!

Actually, it's prolly not a good Idea, if you look at the cat "Perch", the cat's would scratch up the guitar if it were left out.

Geez guys....I really was kidding - but thanks for clearing that up! :p :D

Uh....thanks Warg. I guess my sense of humor needs work. That's twice in this thread where I've asked a question in an attempt to be funny (smiley's and all), and gotten what appears to be a serious response. If you guys were kidding too, then I guess my sense needs work at both ends... :D
