Seriously guys, this is really getting old. It's gotten ridiculous, can we do something about this? We're not allowed to post comments (including relevant questions about guitars for sale, questions that many others are likely also interested in getting answered), but we have the same guitars posted over and over again, really????

What else is supposed to be in the FS thread if no one else is selling anything else at this time? Is that really your complaint? You can always check eBay if you need to see more...I'm sorry, and I really dont mean to be rude, but that is kind of a silly complaint.

So when you follow a blog and see there's a new post made, and go in excited to read something new, only to find the same entry you read last time you were there re-posted....you're ok with that?

I think he's meaning that it's superfluous..post it once and let others peruse, that way it wouldn't get so long and redundant. Same for the comments too.. Still..this is the *cleanest* guitar forum I've ever seen..

Well this really isn't a blog and it's up to individuals what they put up for sale. If no one is getting any hits on their FS add they might feel compelled to drop the price so they can move it and for certain pieces to stay in the "family" instead of resolving to eBay and such. I find nothing wrong with that, on top of seeing prices drop on cool pieces either way.

So you dont want people re-posting their guitars with new prices and just see OLD posts?

What really grinds my gears is the fact that all these forumites want MONEY -- yeah, money!!! -- for these guitars. I mean, what gives???

I agree. The FS thread gets cleaned up regularly so it's always kept to around 3 pages. One for sale entry is enough - even if you change the price (just edit the post). It's not fair to the other people who want to have their post as the most recent for a few hours. It's also slightly annoying to see the thread updated, click in, and see no new guitars, like the OP mentioned.

Either way it's a privilege to be able to use that thread, so I don't really have the right to complain.

I bought a wonderful Axis thanks to the Sale thread, thus I will not complain !
It's just take a few seconds for browsing the last entries of this thread. People want to sell their gear and it's nice for them to have a place to do it. Some guys are reposting but I think it's fine because I prefer to see the same ads several time than missing a great opportunity !

That's an interesting post :D

the market of high end guitar is .............how can I say..................slow :p Hence a repeated post. There was a time when fing was posting in there where the guitars stayed only for a couple of minutes.

I have one myself in the for sale and purchased a couple through it also

It's tough time on most of us, I'm currently selling 3 guitars and would rather not do it, but starting a company in a time of crisis requires a bit more time. So I will sell part of my asset and I'm happy to do it.

I will not sacrifice the value just to get "some" money. So the guitar will be posted as much as necessary until someone will get it :D

Sorry to annoy you Douglas

BTW why are you so excited when there is a guitar for sale in that thread? are you looking for something in particular? then use the WTB Thread

or maybe your just excited by the fact that people are selling their lovely guitars to raise some cash?

you know what, I suggest you click the unsubscribe button from this thread and move on

Nothing wrong with posting many time the same instrument as long as you have only one entry per instrument and delete the old one in my opinion and this is what most of us are doing ;)

come on.. they're trying to sell their stuff, dont be difficult, they're doing nothing wrong by reposting. as for questions, ask them via private message.

????

We're talking expensive guitars here, and just because one doesn't sell one week (or two or three) doesn't mean that it won't sell later. You are moaning because fans of the guitars are selling to other fans of the guitars????
My Silo had no interest for weeks - but over the last two I've had loads of calls...if I didn't repost, that probably wouldn't have happened.

I look forward to seeing your reposts when you are selling......Some people just have find something to whinge about.

I don't mind. Heck....I've followed a number of guitars as they have dropped in price. Understand that there's no cost here (or craigslist), so putting up a guitar on the high side to "feel out" what it might be worth doesn't really have any downside.

I do know that I've kicked myself a few times for not jumping on one of these guitars earlier. My Al was on sale here for a while and ended up being traded with Pete....and then I bought it.

Indeed, like any sale outlet, if you have a $1000 guitar and want $9000 for it, that ain't gonna happen. People are sometimes a bit too attached to their guitar (I am) and want more than the market will bear.

........or they are just A.D.D. with buying guitars and need to unload something to buy the latest craving........ [I didn't even mention any names :) ]

Meh... if you're THAT upset tell it to the mods, they'll handle it.

I think he's reaching out to the community first before involving the police, so to speak :p

This is true but I also think that everyone wants to repost when someone else reposts. So everyone gets cheered on by the others.

I must say that I agree with the OP. I've been bothered by this myself. Seeing the thread being marked as unread, getting excited that there are new guitars for sale and then there's just a repost of an old guitar, just lower price. People will look through that thread if they want to buy a guitar. If people instead will edit their posts, these people who looks through the thread will see the edited prices anyway, without reposting.

Thank you. Here is a free feature. Most companies are only concerned with selling new stuff. We understand the you need an outlet....

As long as the thread is clean with just for sale Im fine with the format as is. Douglas Please try to be sensitive to some who may be on hard times. I dont beleive that the regulars ever relish the thought of having to sell one of our guitars or basses. This is also where you can probably get the best value.

Tanax there is a fine line between armchair modding too.

No forum will be perfect. If I took each and everyone of the members with 318 posts or more and gave them one wish the forum would be empty.

Well lets try and come to a happy medium here without anyone feeling slighted. First off if guys have never been to other company forums you will know that for sale threads are not permitted in some places, like the Fender forum for instance. So you are given a privilege here where most of the members put their guitars up for sale for a lot less most of the time than what they could post them on ebay or CL, just to try and keep it in the family. Also you have to take into consideration that it is near the holidays and money is tight for just about everyone, or most of those guitars would be long gone. How annoying can it be to look at three pages of guitars with a lot of them being models you do not see very often. We really do not need this to even be an issue as something like this can very easily escalate into a problem which rubs someone the wrong way and one day the for sale thread could easily be gone. This is the only place I have ever bought a guitar second hand outside of ebay.If others want to see for sales posted that keep on moving just go to the GP or HC, but you will always see a post by someone who just got beat for money or never received their half of a trade or what they were led to believe they were getting. Seriously if its not broke it dont need fixing, lets put this issue to rest.

you all make good points, thanks for reading and chiming in. Reading this has actually reminded me that we're fortunate to even have a FS thread here.

That said, when 7 out of 10 "new posts" are a $10 price drop or even often times a simple re-port after deletion of original post, it's obvious it's just an attempt to get the most recent showing in there.....it feels like spam. The thread is only 2 pages long, trust me, we've seen your guitar and if we were interested, it won't be hard to find in a 2 page thread!!

Honestly, I'd prefer it not be cleaned up, and would be fine it's it's 100 pages long. What's so hard about hitting the "go to most recent post" button? It's interesting to be able to see guitars have come and gone over the years. And I'm fine with more pictures vs. less. What's the harm of scrolling through 10 pictures of sweet looking guitars?
