First off, as a mod I appreciate everyone's comments- I think everyone generally has good intentions.

I try to keep the F/S section clean. Even though we ask everyone to remove sold items and delete original posts when they re-post them, most people don't - so every day I go through and delete redundant info. Ditto old posts, these days I'm keeping them for about 2 calendar months.

As for re-posting ... honestly, that's what happens just about everywhere. There's no way to make a rule limiting people to only posting something two or three times. The fact is, if somebody doesn't sell their item, they probably need to lower their price else they'll end up re-listing it forever. But I'm not going to suggest that we make that decision for them.

Having sold a lot of gear over the years, I don't think this forum gets you the widest audience or best price for your EBMM (I've always sold for more on eBay). But, it's easy to do it here and there are some good deals to be had for forumites, so it's a win-win.

I'd say if it really bothers to you to see repeat posts ... don't look at the F/S section.

It's a super nice gesture and privlage that members can trade here. All the guitars posted are well taken care of and dont know if I speak for all, But it's cool when you know your guitar might be sold to another member that you know will take great care of it. My money situation changes month to month, So if the oportunity comes and there is a guitar there thats not made anymore. I'm going to buy it. I need a 20th, But it will have to wait until the holidays.

No forum will be perfect. If I took each and everyone of the members with 318 posts or more and gave them one wish the forum would be empty.

I guess I wasn't asking we make a rule about it, moreso a gentle nudge to those that seem to re-post over and over again to perhaps think twice about it.

Don't worry, I'm not losing any sleep over this, it's just been a small ongoing annoyance of mine for a while, and I just couldn't bite my lip any longer, haha!

Thanks BP and mods for all you do, here and outside of the Internets.

I agree. I know I can get more money for my guitars elsewhere and certainly can get a wider audience from larger auction sites. As a seller I love working with the forum members -- new or old alike. As a buyer I'd much rather buy a used MM guitar from a forum member.

I dont beleive that the regulars ever relish the thought of having to sell one of our guitars or basses. This is also where you can probably get the best value.

Thanks for that BP..its cool to know you understand we LOVE our guitars and like me ,i HAD to sell my Rosewood Axis and my BFR AL because they got me the most money ....it wasnt ez and If you were a fly in my car the day i sold you would have seen a 40 year old dude cry...it really hurts....but I needed some extra start up money for my Nutrition Clinic and we do what we have to do ...hopefully in a few years i can buy them back...or maybe a New HH AL with a gamechanger hhehe i just stay positive and it'll happen!
Cheers and again THANK YOU!

As an avid checker of the FS thread, I can't think of a better place to find EBMM treasures. It's FREE to use and FREE to post, plus this is about as targeted as you can get for someone looking to sell and someone looking to buy.

In fact, I just found and purchased another EBMM guitar that I've been looking for the other week via that thread. Priceless.

I'll gladly put up with folks reposting, price adjustments, lots of pics, etc. because it's F-R-E-E. I just can't tell someone how I'd like my gift to be wrapped.

Tanax there is a fine line between armchair modding too.

Didn't understand what armchair modding means(I'm not natively speaking english). But fair enough, I understand your point. Obviously it's ultimately up to you guys.

I understand your point but the last sentence I feel the need to reply to. The fact is that it DOES bother us to see repeat posts but we do like to see NEW posts and see what new guitars are up for sale.

The thing about the thread is that it's basically a dictionary of guitars that are for sale. The posts won't go away like ads on ebay does(hence the need to perhaps put up a guitar there several times), therefore there's really no need to repost since you already got a post in the thread.

Get my point? :)

Wow - I take 1 day off and.....;)

An interesting thread, my tuppence worth.

Having been on the feast and famine of finance I can clearly with a balanced mind that the forsale thread here is an invaluable resource.

1. It's free - for those of us who've been in dire straits (not like in the band - you know broke??) - eBay and Paypall will take around £100 in fees combined for the sale of a £600-800 ball - which is a big slice of cheese out of your pocket.

2. As lenny Says it gives you the change to either sell to someon you KNOW will appreciate the purchase or maybe get to buy it back should the tables be turned.

3. The pictures /repeat posts don't bother me - if I do see the same -then I don't look at it for a couple of days... There are poeple who turn over a lot of balls which generally contributes to the purchase of new instruments - Fing - not singling you out but you buy more than anyone and Brentrocks before you.... my point is that you guys probably ditch 60%+ of your used inventory via the forum ??? - again all good for new sales, and an excellent oppertunity for people who're maybe looking to try or buy a used ball and don't have access to a large store or don't want Internet sales with Stock pictures.

So, I've used the for sale section to buy and sell, I've never been stiffed by a knucklehead, In fact I rate the character or sellers WELL above that of eBAy - (Probably becuase we share the same passion) - There are some killer used balls on there just now - and if the £/$ was 2 for 1 I'd have em all - I guess what I'm saying is it's free, helpful and makes many happy.... live and let live?

just to say, i'm right in the middle of getting a guitar off a forum member and if he hadn't reposted his ad,I would have missed it,I've got no issues with reposts, also sometimes they come with a price drop.:D

OK back on topic, you know sometimes a bump happens too soon and I agree with Rob (Aussie Version :D ) just a few pics will do but lord man dont complain about free ads, my main complaint was:D people posting comments but that has been fixed by BP shutting it down for awhile and the mods doing a great job of cleansing:D

OK now someone buy my GR dam it!!! Need to make up for my latest spree, yes you just wait:p
