I have an idea that might keep everyone happy...

How about a new FS sale every month with one new rule - just one post per guitar for sale (that can be edited by the seller during that month if needs be).

At the end of the month the old thread gets locked and a new thread started.

If your guitar is still for sale, re-post in the new thread.

Keep the old thread for one month for reference and then delete it.

So the benefits would be:-

  • Hopefully no thread cleaning by mods necessary.
  • No duplicate guitar posts.
  • An exciting spanky new thread every month.

Whad'ya reckon?:D

just to say, i'm right in the middle of getting a guitar off a forum member and if he hadn't reposted his ad,I would have missed it,I've got no issues with reposts, also sometimes they come with a price drop.:D

Thats lucky-no one seems to want to sell me a guitar!!;)

Exactly - Why are we trying to fix what ain't broke...

> It's free
> It's buyers and sellers who love the instruments
> It builds the network of MMan users for the individual. I've met cool folks on here that I now speak with outside of the forums....

As Keith already said....reposts often result in a sale (Yeah!!) although sometimes a price drop (boo!) That's for you Keith! LOL.

Lets just leave it be - we wouldn't even be having these ideas if some miserable sod hadn't whinged in the first place! lol

I said something about the misgivings and annoyances of the FS thread some time ago. I came to the conclusion that one should understand that forumites and moderators are human and as such are not perfect. So I decided to not expect the FS thread to be either.

Such is life.

But jamminjim you are. (I hand you the keys until someone complains........wait tick tick tock..OK give them back!)

Forums are filled with armchair mods and people who getting something for free and feel that a critique is order...You are getting your money's worth channel this extra critical thought into your careers so you buy more stuff

Remember No good deed goes unpunished.

I'm happy with the way the FS thread is run. I understand why the original post was made - but the concensus and more importantly the thoughts of the guys who run this place are to leave well alone. I don't mind scrolling through a couple of pages - it takes no time.

I bought 2 great guitars courtesy of this thread and also as a result of help from other knuckleheads.

This is an excellent idea!
It'll be less posts to delete aswell when the guitars are sold. Such an awesome idea, why didn't we think of it before.

It might sound that moderators will have more work to do, since they have to create a new thread every month for it but I honestly believe they will have LESS work since they won't have to worry about deleting posts.

A FS-thread can even be created each month and maintained by the regular members. If a moderator simply don't have time to create a new thread at the beginning of the month, a member can simply do so instead(surely someone would have to stick the thread but still).
