that is schweeeet Pete. Thanks for the torture! I would almost trade my sterling silver for it. hmmmmmm.

Back off Lefty:D You've got a rosewood neck too I see, is it fast like unfinished maple?

Well, I sent an email to Pete, I transferred the funds from my sales on eBay from my PayPal account to my bank account, and I swore to my wife that I would not act like a 2 year old about not getting the Dargie when they come out. I guess now I just have to hope no one else has bought it.

You guys convinced that this was the right choice, and I think your right. But if not will you chip in to buy me a Dargie too?

I'd get a Dargie II, personally. Potentially rarer and cooler :p But this one is HAWT!

Gotta love orange guitars!

In the end it was the fact that BP said the Dargies will be around for a while, while the rosewood was so limited that sealed the deal. I really do like the color shift on the Dargies, but I have maple necks with ebony boards. The rosewood neck is something I've never had and everyone is raving about them.

Initially when I saw the pics I thought "eh, nothing special", but for some reason I kept coming back to it, and within an hour I was in love. Worst case scenario I sell one of my guitars and buy the Dargie, but I had many moments when I lamented not being aware there was a limited ordering window for the rosewood necks. I feel like I would not have got another shot a new lefty JP rosewood.

Proto, I bought a Rosewood JP from Pete too, trust me you will not be disappointed in the least with this baby.

You thought the maple was smooth? This rosewood is silky smooth like that of a royally pampered baby's bottom!

Thanks guys. It's so weird to have sold over $2000 in rare CD's with a single goal in mind of buying a Dargie only to have this happen.

What's even more odd is after abandoning this site 3 years ago due to my giving up on ever getting a lefty JP I'll be getting 2 this week and my 3rd should be finished in late July/early August. I can't really wrap my head around it, and I'm so panicked about the birth of our 1st child in August (I'm sure she'll be born August 2nd as I have front row center Dream Theater tickets that night) that my head is jumbled and I really needed help making the decision.

I appreciate everyone's insight and input. I guess this means I'll be posting some pics of both this guitar and a Quilted Bahama Blue 7 string this week...and a quilted Walnut 6 string next month.

You'll notice every single one my of posts is edited. That's due to the fact that I'm such a basket case right now I type faster than I think. I'm going to be a stay at home dad so I guess I have no idea how much time I'll have to play.

To be honest, after tearing ligaments, muscles and having nerve damage in my left arm, spending a few months going to Brigham and Womens Hospital musician injury specialty clinic, two separate stints of physical therapy, and finally just quitting guitar for 3 years after 18 years of schooling and playing, I'm just happy to be playing and enjoying the instrument again.

Probably so! I'm still on the DD2 bandwagon. I just love the color shifting green they came up with.

Done.

Thanks for all your help Nick. I appreciate you answering my myriad of questions, and dealing with me trying to concoct sentences on 3 hours sleep.

And again thanks to all you guys here for helping me decide. Do I still need to provide pics for to prove it exists since I'm sure the ones Pete posted are nicer than anything I can take? :)

Also a special no thanks to eBay for taking such a huge chunk of my sales, and the one buyer who ruined my perfect score by leaving a negative feedback when I refused to falsify customs documents. It was worth it though, I got a new guitar out of it.

Hey guys, I'll do a search for this but since it's on topic for this thread, what do you to do to care for the rosewood necks? I figure the same thing I use on rosewood fretboards, Wonder Wipes, lemon oil, orange oil, etc will work fine.

Congrtats, glad you went for it, the color is way cool in person, seen it on basses at GC, your rose wood neck is a rarity I bet, lets see lefty, orange firmist, rosewood neck, yep pretty rare, check with Dan once you get the serial number might be a one off:cool:

I think kissmyaxe stated he has one with JP shields earlier in the thread. Does it count as a one off it's the only one with dots?:D

Hey Protochicken, you definitely made the right choice. The guitar in this thread looks killer. If you want a JP, this looks like a real nice one.

PS, Congratulations on overcoming your injuries and playing again. That is great to hear.
