The other thing that strikes me with the "performance car" analogy is that some of those car hoods are carbon fiber....sooooo...what if you could "lift" the face or top of the guitar to switch pickups.....rest of the body is the same color as the headstock which is why maybe the pic has no strings.......getting ready for a PU switch......
I just reread this and Im not sure if I believe it.....
Is it just me or do the pickups look closer together than normal? Maybe its just the angle the shot has been cropped to. ?
Carbon fiber...also inspired by bmw? ;-)
We know so far: it´s a six string, without locking nut but with compensated nut, so the Majesty will not have ein FR-Trem, but problably will have the known Petrucci-Trem. It´s no suprise, that JP wants a H-H-Combo, for technical reasons. But I wonder, for what purpose the Mini-Switch is built in (Coilsplitting, I don´t think so; Piezo-PU-Selector, maybe ;-)
Mr. BP, just Musicman has the Balls to cobinate a carbonfiber-finish with a mattle blue headstock ;-) I can understand what Luke meant, when he mentioned that the guitar is wild. But I think it will be a great guitar. So far: Thumbs up!
I dont think we should count out a floyd.....Guthrie Govans new proto has an original floyd (no fine tuners) with a normal nut and locking tuners and he has said he prefers this to the wilkinson.....
You never know......Players like Chris Broderick used to have his Ibbies made with an edge system but no lock nut.....
BP's photo is upside down. The switch is on the topside of the guitar. Can't put it on the horn because the horn does not exist.
They took the tonewood cocktail idea from the BFRs and replaced the mahogany toneblock with a patent-pending carbon fibre-wood composite tone block. With regular tonewoods, the pickups very slightly vibrate in phase with the body wood, but that is sometimes out of phase with the string vibrations. The ultra-stiff carbon fibre eliminates that and make the pickups more responsive, giving a faster, smoother attack with more articulation to super high speed playing and complex chords under distortion (try playing a Major 7 with full distortion and you'll know what I mean).
The wood part of the composite is made out of a super lightweight ultra-resonant wood (Ochroma Pyramidale) that is often used to make ultra-high-tech aircraft propellers, wing-struts, and high-performance surfboards. It's a very fast growing tree, so stocks can be quickly replaced, which aids sustainable harvesting.![]()
