Hi,

I am seeing Albert Lee tonight at a local venue. He was nice enough to sign one of my old Tele's the last time I saw him. I have since bought one the Albert Lee Signature models (now my favorite guitar).

Somehow, I don't have the same desire to get him to sign this guitar (it is so new and clean!) as I did my old Tele (it was old and had lots of wear).

Any thought on whether I should ask him to sign this one?

Thanks

I would *definitely* go for it - he might even pick around on it a little (so make sure it's in tune) and then you can say it as MOJO! :)

P.S. - I'm a big fan of getting my guitars signed - always the artist signature model - have a handful of Joe Bonamassa's, Robert Cray, Keb' Mo', Derek Trucks, and getting my new Petrucci (which is currently en route) signed by him next Monday at Sweetwater (even if I have to elbow my way through the crowd! :) )

If you arent sure whether you want him to sign it, you could always ask him if he'd pose for a pic holding it with you. Then frame it and put it where you rehearse or something.

both of my sig guitars are signed on the back of the headstock. I wouldn´t like a signature on the front. On the back of the headstock nearly nobody recognizes it, but I can look at it anytime I want :)

I have all 3 of my alberts signed behind the headstock. I cleaned them up first with some naptha to remove any signs of wax on there.

Another time I had him sign my trem plate (which I also had signed by Steve Vai). I had the trem plate clear coated to protect the signatures.

he's a great guy to talk with.

Thanks for all the replies. At the last minute, I decided to take it. At first I wanted to have him sign it on the headstock somewhere but there really is no open real estate there (don't know how you guys found a place to do that), so I had him sign below tremolo cover (see below).

He was great. 70 years old (almost) and tours constantly ( as he put it from the stage, "he has to"). When he came out to sign things and sell merch he was kind and gracious but probably wished he could bolt for the hotel (or maybe even home back in LA).

I wished I could have talked to him but felt I should not hold him up. Maybe someday I'll be able to have a conversation with him.

Glad you got it signed - but I'm worried it will "rub off" in that spot, so you might want to clear coat it (not sure what would be compatible with the existing finish though).

Should have went for the front below the bridge - be loud and proud, brother! :)

behind the headstcok is very little space indeed, and the signatures aren´t that nice then, that´s right. but it´s okay when you don´t want it on the front. the place yours is signed is also a good idea.
here are mine

wow, Albert did a great job signing your guitar. When I saw him the other night, he looked like he wanted to get the whole thing over with (I don't blame him, he has a busy life), so I made it easy for him.

Nice, I was thinking of taking my AL HH and having him sign the back of the headstock as well. Going this Saturday to see him, never seen him play live before, so I'm very excited!!!

Did you bring the guitar into the club, or did you go get it after the show was over?
