Serial Numbers : What is the production date of my guitar?

So is Sterling like the red-headed step-child of Ernie Ball???
Or is it better to say that it's not part of the Ernie Ball family at all but part of the Music Man family? Am I in the wrong forum? My poor little orphan Silo is about to suffer an identity crisis.

Any ideas on where I can get more info on it?
I believe its a '78, but just want to confirm.

edit: pulled the neck off today while changing the strings and doing a set up, confirmed body: stamped August 1978, neck stamped November 03 1978.

any other info on it would be greatly appreciated though.
and if anyone happens to know where i could find a wiring diagram, I would be forever grateful.

I believe the serial number is G25040, since none of ours start with the number 6. If that is the case, this was in our first run of Limited Editions. The color is called Radiance Red and it was done on May 26, 2004
