no problem at all - enjoy!

The funny part of this is that I visited Perkin's Music House once while on the Scion Tour in 2004. There is a picture of this guitar that I took while I was there, and I posted it on the Scion Tours part of our website. To see it, click here: http://www.ernieball.com/scion/main.html, then click on "Check The Map" from the top of the page. On the map, you will see the route we took. Click on the dot farthest to the top right, it comes up "Portland/E. Winthrop, ME." You will see my ragged picture there (sorry about that), then click on "Image 9" and look - does the guitar on the left look familiar? ;)

Pug, that's awesome that after the long wait and the stress, your guitar (completion date 6/7/06) arrived safe and sound to the bro's at MusicLand USA and into your hands. Thanks for playing Music Man!

Mark, welcome aboard, both to the Forum and the world of Music Man guitars, crazy as it is sometimes. Your left-handed Axis SuperSport in Candy Red finish was completed on 2/12/04 before being shipped to the UK. Did you buy it new?

Dan

Thanks for the info Dan.

Yes, purchased the SuperSport new 3 days ago. Tried to find a left handed MM guitar for a while in a shop but with no success, so got the distributor in UK to send the guitar out, which they did for free. Needless to say, played the guitar for few minutes and decided I had to buy!

brent, this guitar was completed on 7/31/91 and was originally shipped to our distributor in Germany.

Cheers,

Dan

thanks dan..

another quick question about this one, was this pretty early in the production of EVHs? what was the start date in EVH production? do the last 3 digits 158 tell you that it was the 158th EVH produced?

thanks for your time.....BRENT

Brent,

When it comes to serial numbers, we are not that organized. Some of the serial numbers you'd think might be first (such as #80009) didn't even get finished until the next year. As to your guitar, there were at least 184 built before yours and on the 31st of July, there were about 20 EVH's made. July 1991 was the first big month of production, before that they were just trickling in. I think all we did that whole month was build those guitars! So your guitar was probably one of the first 200 production models produced and was definitely one of the first 20 made in the trans blue finish. Hope that helps!

Thanks, Dan! Is there a formula for how the serial numbers are formatted, or is it simply a linear numeric sequence as the instruments are blessed with a neck plate?

No, the serial numbers are selected completely randomly without any rhyme or reason whatsoever - and that's the truth! You could easily see your serial number, which is one of the higher ones at this point, completed right before one that has a serial number like F08000 or something like that. It is rather unscientific. I guess we are more concerned with building the best guitars we know how, and letting the serial numbers fall where they may. ;)
