They have been stamped onto the neckplate for many years, but your is apparently from before that started. Interesting. Is your guitar a solid (vintage) white color or is it translucent?

Hi Dan, I started a new thread for my DOB, but perhaps it would be seen here first...
I just stumbled on a JP Mystic Dream serial G15492. I picked it up used at GC in Cherry Hill, NJ
Just curious if you could give me the stats on it. Its by FAR the nicest guitar I've ever had the privilage to play, and actually own!!!
Thanks, any help is much appreciated!!
John
Hi, I just bought an old Silhouette. The serial is 86053. I removed the neck and it says Dec 15, 1986. It's black (matte black?) 3 single coil pickups that says Made in Germany. Pickup has this stamped on it, 9/86-5. What does it mean? Date of the pickup? What pickups are these? It also doesn't have anything on the neckplate. The serial is at the back of the head stock. The machine heads has an S (Schaller?) in the middle with Made in Germany stamped around it.
Is this an original Silhouette?
GH, your awesome Silhouette Special/maple/white pearloid guard was completed on 12/27/06 and was shipped to the boys at Martin Music in Memphis, Tennessee.
Nice -
Dan
John - you have gotten yourself a very early John Petrucci 6 sans piezo, built on 6/29/01. Mystic Dream finish. What a great find!
Dan
Yes.
The first Silhouettes used a lot of Schaller parts besides just the tuners. Schaller also provided the pickups and tremolo systems for the Silhouette back then. Unfortunately our serial number database was not really being utilized yet so there is no record of when your guitar was completed. Your guitar sure sounds authentic.
Dan
Marco, your Axis Sport HSS has an Opaque Ivory finish, and was completed on March 6, 1998. It should have a maple fretboard and a tremolo. Shipped originally to Italy. Nice piece!
Dan
