So, did mine originally come loaded with MM90's or humbuckers??????

Tony,

Your guitar definitely was equipped with humbuckers originally - if it did ever have MM90's the routing for the pickups would be WAY too big!

Sounds like you have a stock guitar to me ;) - especially based on the serial number. Sorry for the mass corn-fusion.

Axis SS G29924

should lead to a honeyburst HH, rosewood fingerboard. (and if not, someone conned me)

Thanks!

Mark,

Your standard bridge Axis SuperSport HH in Tobacco Burst with a rosewood fretboard was completed on 9/21/05 and was originally sent to the Netherlands.

Tobacco Burst and HoneyBurst sometimes look similar with the TB being just a shade darker.

Nice!

Dan,

Thanks for helping clear this up. I was all set to replace the pickups until I read this last post from you. They do in fact have B1 and N1 stamped on the back. It's a late 1998 model, so it must have been made at the tail end of the pickguard Axis.

Tony,

That seems like a very good conclusion. There was a bit of indecision about the Sport in the first year or two of production, and the pickup colors were one of them. Sounds like a very sweet guitar!

So, Guyz and girls, I have a new guitar and it's ... an EBMM (that was really hard to guess, I suppose)

Its serial number is g34501 - I'd be very lucky to get a birthdate (and some more info on it, if possible - where it was originally shipped to, etc)
