I have an old lefthanded sunburst Stingray4string with no.B019457

Great, thx 4 your replys ,im not going to do surgery on it, this will do just fine .
I was also just surprised they did produce the bass for leftys, thx again.

From my notes...for comparison:

B015097..1979. White with Rosewood. Fretless. Black pg.
B020604..Neck date...6 Sept 1980. Natural.

The only way to be sure is to remove the neck and check the dates on the neck heel and body pocket.

Cheers. :)

P.S. If you need tips for removal/replacement of neck let me know.

Its a 1977,but to be sure take off the neck and see what it reads in the neck pocket and on the heel. Also be sure to add your serial # to Rod Trussbrokens Post, pre ernie serial #

The serials only give a general picture of things....although usually reliable, one or two serials sometimes come up that are not chronological.

In 79, they started putting the MM logo on the riser at the tail of the bridge. The serial was located at the bridge also. In the absence of that, then yeah, probably a 77.

As thumper said, to be sure, you'd have to remove the neck.

i removed the neck and watched out in the neckpocket for the exactly "birthday" of my baby! i could only see: DEZ 6 19.. I couldn´t read the last to numbers anymore... but... there is no serial# on the bride... and no logo! just a little music man tag at (i don´t now the english name for it) the bride where the strings are coming out of the body...!
i watched the serial numbers in a list in an other threat... the color of my bass, the pickguard and anything else is like in this list! I´m shure it is an "77! ****ing awesome!!!

Hi 3MP,

Perhaps you could use a magnifying glass.

What is the serial number? Where abouts is it? Does it have plastic "Radio Knobs"?

There should also be a date on the heel of the neck (the part that fits into the body pocket).

Have you got a picture of your Bass? I'd like to see a picture of the bridge!

Cheers.

Thanks

Thank you for the repley, from both of you.

Thanks ROd, but the amp is a 15" speaker, it's a monster, i love it. It's quick too! take my word on this one, it has plenty of punch, and puts out the growl well. The craziest part is that it is 3.5 years old, and has been played a lot, but i keep good care of it...(it helps that SWR amps are built like brick s*** houses, if yah know what i mean,.. tuffer than anything.)

You can't even imagine...muahaha.
actually it serves multiple duties. it can be an amp, a fan, and a massageing chair.j/k. But i tend to stick with just using it what it's designed for....haha!

i love it, go try the WM15 over at a GC near by..you may end up drviing home iwth it. SERiOUSLY!
