Setup Issues - SR5 Special

Well, I feel that I am on a crossroads with my SR5. This was my first venture into the EBMM family. I was looking for lighter weight and I have always loved the tone of the newer SR5's with the upgraded preamps. Sadly it lived up to all the expectations except for one.....the setup! I have been working hand and hand with a tech who is very qualified and does amazing work. No matter what we try including neck shims we cannot get the action low enough for my touch without major fret buzz issues. I have been playing Lakland basses since around 2003, but have also had Fender, Sadowsky, and several others with not having any issues getting the lowest action possible. Any suggestions before I throw in the towel and put this one up for sale? I really want to love this bass....the tone and neck are amazing! I just will not settle on a bass I have to fight.

How low of an action are you trying to get? Has your check checked the neck for any high frets?

Instead of multiple posts I will answer was best I can in one response! We did a fret level, crown, and polish. Multiple different shims as well. I play with a very low action (5/64" to 3/32") and that is the starting point. I always take it a notch lower when possible. I play with a very light touch as well.
