Hey guys.

In the latest Reverb online sale there was a Musicman Stingray SR5 for 500 quid brand new!

Anyway, i pounced on it and paid for it, however there was no picture so i was wondering if anyone else had any pics they can share of theirs?

Also weirdest thing. A friend of mine who is also a member on these forums pounced too and also had a confirmation of order email. I find it unlikely they had more then one of the exact same bass on special offer but well it could happen!

All i am worried about is that due to the current climate Reverb could have been having a fire sale so they can call in the administrators and keep my money (As well as the other guys) It just seems like a ridiculously cheap price considering.

I will be calling them up in the morning to confirm everything.

-Rob.

PS also any pickguard suggestions? :D

That does sound like a really good deal. Even if you were to convert that to US dollars, that would be a good price for a new SR5 over here and European prices are usually significantly higher.

Well, white always looks good on white, but white pearloid and tortoise shell will look good too. Even black as well.

I was the other guy :)

As i said to asomodai in PM, it might be them getting rid of the last of their ceramic SR5s and happened to have a few in that colour?

They've had a few guitars and basses there stupidly cheap, they had a lot of spectors at ridiculous prices not long ago too... I'm staying optimistic anyway!

This is a pic of my number one. I love this bass.

It's got the same specs you mentioned above.

I have seen them with tort guards and black pups :(

Yeah that's what I was after, I just wanted to check what else they had going cheap. Not a lot, it seems, oh well when you get your Ray show us a pic and that goes for the other bloke too. ;)
Cheers
Shall do!

And they have some VERY cheap EBMM SUB guitars in single H on there for £140, though i rang up a couple of months ago and they're all gone, though annoyingly enough they're still on the list...

That's gorgeous, i hope mine looks like that :) As asomodai said, much better than black pickups + tort, but i'll take whatever i can get ;)
Also is that a matching headstock or is it just the lighting?

No mate, that's not a light reflection that is definately a matching h/stock you can see the maple colour difference on the side of the headstock, can't you? (Enlarge the pic and look near that row of red balls)

Probably shouldn't have looked at that link - new StingRays are at £699 for 3EQ whereas I have just paid near £650 for a 2EQ one!

Ah well, live and learn :)

Meh, round here I think the 2EQ is just as, if not more desirable. I certainly prefer them purely as the tone is just slightly different, more classic stingray, if you will. Timmy C used a 2EQ, Bernard Edwards, and others.

2EQs are still friggin sweet. Who plays around with mids anyway?

edit: that's a great price, nice buy.

Actually, the only issue I'm finding so far is that the G string is very quiet compared to the others when I'm playing with a flat EQ. Unsure if this is pickup height (it was very low, now adjusted), the pre-amp battery or simply the way the MMs are?

It's a pickup height thing, have it returned to factory specs, you can find that information on the site somewhere I think.

I think he already adjusted it to specs...at least that's what was implied.

If it is set to specs and the G is quiet, try lowering the E side of the pickup just a little.
