I got third here in Tucson :) :)
The Piezo Trem System on the Pet blew everyone away
I scored higher on originality that anyone did in any catagory.

It was scary. But, I did it! I'm proud of myself, and I feel really good for doing this. So go out and do it yourself, and share... go show off your balls!

N or M (whichever you prefer, both go well with tea, and everything goes well with spinach)

3rd?

Jeez, who were first and second, Morse and Satriani?

Man, they must've been good. Did you break out the classical stuff?

Glad I saw last years world tour....which I believe I was a part of. :D

I got second...but it was behind a tie of two people (one of which did not deserve the score he got at all) so I guess I was third too. :(

Interview with Norm

Guitar Freak magazine had a chance to speak with Norm at the recent Shreadfest. Excerps follow...

Q: I hear a lot of Keith Baim in your playing. Are there other influences?

Q: Last year you did this you had a guitar that was the same color as Keith Baim's. Blue Dawn, I think you called it. Why the switch?

Q: Do you think maybe if you practiced more and took this contest seriously, you could do better in it?

Q: Is it really true you're leaving your Blue Dawn Silo in your will to Keith Baim? And how's your health of late?

Q: I hear a lot of Keith Baim in your playing. Are there other influences?
A: No! Absolutely not. You know that Keith was a student of Randy Rhodes and he also studied Steve Morse exclusively for a long time. Those were my favorite players of all time. There were none better IMO. Therefore Keith Baim is my only influence.

Q: Last year you did this you had a guitar that was the same color as Keith Baim's. Blue Dawn, I think you called it. Why the switch?
A: It was a tough decision. There were several aspects to be considered. All of which are blah blah blah pop blah click blah impress a chick blah pop pop pop click blah blah yada yada yada.

Q: Do you think maybe if you practiced more and took this contest seriously, you could do better in it?
A: I’m sorry. What was the question? I wasn’t paying attention. Oh look! something shiny!

Q: Is it really true you're leaving your Blue Dawn Silo in your will to Keith Baim? And how's your health of late?
A: Yes and I smoke to much.

I would also like to add <sound of tape recorder shutting off>

Guitar Freak magazine continues it's NorM interview...

Q. I understand you have quite a collection of Ernie Ball guitars. Why the fetish?

Q. All those guitars and you're only leaving 1 to Keith? He must be a dick.

Q. It's been said you have an "unusual" relationship with Jon (EB repair wizard), how would you describe it?

Q. We heard you and Darrell like to get together for a good smoke now and again. Who blows better smoke rings?

Q. When did you first start playing guitar?

Q. And was it your mom or your dad who threatened to "chop your nuts off" if you kept at it?

Q. Apollo 13 was a great movie. Didn't you do the soundtrack?

Q. Which 3 people would you most like to have dinner with...and Liza Minelli can't be one of them?

Q. There was some talk a while back that Ernie Ball was considering a signature guitar for you. What were they thinking?

Q. What's next? Any tours planned? Another cd?

A. It wasn’t a plan. That’s just what happens when you’re OCD. Truth is, I’m compensating.

Q. All those guitars and you're only leaving 1 to Keith? He must be a dick.
A. I never really thought of it that way but if the shoe fits. But hey, I am leaving him one so he must not be/have that big of a dick. :D :p  :) :p <NorM holds sides from laughing so hard>

Q. It's been said you have an "unusual" relationship with Jon (EB repair wizard), how would you describe it?
A. I’m sure he hates me. He’s right to do so.

Q. We heard you and Darrell like to get together for a good smoke now and again. Who blows better smoke rings?
A. I’ll thank you to keep your perverted fantasies to yourself.

Q. When did you first start playing guitar?
A. Yesterday I started about 6:30 PM MST. That’s why I missed your call at7:00 MST

Q. And was it your mom or your dad who threatened to "chop your nuts off" if you kept at it?
A. We should talk about the difference between threats and promises. Mom and Dad were people of honor. True to their word.

Q. Apollo 13 was a great movie. Didn't you do the soundtrack?
A. Not the movie. I did the Broadway play.

Q. Which 3 people would you most like to have dinner with...and Liza Minelli can't be one of them?
A. I only eat lunch.

Q. There was some talk a while back that Ernie Ball was considering a signature guitar for you. What were they thinking?
A. That there would be an endless supply of crack?

Q. What's next? Any tours planned? Another cd?
A. Well that’s great that you ask because there is so much to tell! First of all there’s <the sound of a yawn drowns out NorM talking on the tape recorder> and I think that’s fantastic! Next there’s something I am really excited about and I can’t wait to tell my fan (ed note: Notice the singularity of the object. We did track down the fan and found them in a rest home. Now that was interesting) that, <sound of snoring makes the rest of the interview inaudible>
