Some recent events both on and off the forum have caused me to step back and reassess some things in my life, including my level of participation here.

With almost 3,000 posts in just a little over two years, it's painfully obvious that I'm an overly chatty SOB and that I spend way too much time and energy here for my own good.

Along the way I've had a lot of fun and have hopefully contributed a few laughs, but I've also managed to annoy some of you good people, and I apologize for that. I've never meant any harm or disrespect to anyone.

That old saying really does apply...if you don't have anything useful to add, just shut up. It's time for me to just shut up for awhile.

I do have some impending life issues facing me that are contributing to this...my mother-in-law is terminally ill, and while it's not bad yet, it will be, and I need to stand by my wife.

I also need to do what the subject of this thread says...take BPs excellent (as always) advice and spend more time doing what I'm supposed to be doing instead of mucking about on the Internet. If I spent as much time practicing as I do here, I'd be, well, less sucky than I am. Maybe (as if).

I'm not going away...I'll be back for sure. Just going into lurker mode for awhile. I'm going to save up that 3,000th post for something really worth posting about.

All the best to everyone, and just in case I don't get back on by then, happy holidays!

adouglas....hang in there my friend! Hopefully you will be back sooner than later......and don't forget....we all come across some tough times and can feel a need to step back. But on the opposite end of the spectrum this forum is and can be a great escape and fun place to hang/get away during tough times so I say stick around.....and have some light hearted fun! :)

All the best!!

adouglas,

Some of the most insightful posts have come from you over the past couple of years. We'll miss your (sic ;) ) humor, and I'll certainly look forward to that 3,000th post.

Best wishes for you and your family.

Oh, shut up.

You do like to talk (or type) and sometimes you don't know when to stop (look who's talking, check MY post count) but so what? People get annoyed, you get annoyed, we all get over it eventually.

The good far outweighs the bad, Andrew, by far, by far.

I've never meant any harm or disrespect to anyone.

And you've never harmed anyone. Disrespect, I don't know doodly-squat about that, but I think not. If you need to be quiet for a while, I can understand that, but don't do it for US. Do it for you if it needs to be done, okay?

I'm not going away...

Dammit!

Seriously. You're a member of the family, AD. You have no say in that. Take a break if you need one, take care of your family, step back, play some bass, buy a Fender (just kidding), have a Coke and a smile, but don't be gone long, eh?

adouglas, take a break if you must, but don't go away. Who else will take up the slack to torment a vacillating bassist on a bongo purchase. You are definitely part of the the colorfulness that makes this forum a fun place. :D

If family calls, go to it by all means. But don't forget this outlet. We all obsess over these instruments and most people outside of this forum (my family included) think we are nuts. I tend to lurk allot here due to a heavy travel schedule. At the end of the day I look forward to reading whats been said on this forum with your posts included.

TAKE CARE AND DON'T BE A STRANGER.

Take care and come back. This place will definitely be duller without you.

And less frightening ;)

PS: I'm guilty as charged... if I'd spent all those hours playing bass instead of surfing, my Dargie would already show fret wear...

Andy, don't stay gone long. It's just the damned internet!

We love you here. Take care of the family first, of course; but don't be a stranger, you goose.

Who am I going to talk about BSG with?
