Great stuff gentlemen. Dizzy, that last Guitarist article is the none that tuned me on to Musicman guitars.A short while later I noticed a blueburst 89 6 bolt hanging on the wall in a local shop. I played it and bought it .I,ve since added my 90 ash Silo, another 6 bolt. PLEASE sticky this thread.

Super solid looking old bridges. Overbuilt.. kind of like the ASAT bridge from the same era? I like the new ones much better: simplified and balanced.

Can really see, that early models evolved from more traditional designs, along with the more chops intensive players of the 80's. I've heard that association even recently: "I don't play well enough to own a Music Man. Music Man guitars are shredder guitars." If they only knew how many of us ole slow hands enjoy them just as much.

DK, nice!

Paul Day is very interesting...He has written me out of the history books. I bought the company and designed the guitar with DUdley. Period. How many articles can he not acknowledge my contribution? Dudley also enlisted Albert Lee? You mean not me the godfather of all Alberts Kids. This is when journalism kills me. I couldn't have done what we have done without Dudley and Im sure he would say that things would have come out different without me. Now we also have the next generation that we have mentored like Drebixcubed and Enjoneer that have spearheaded some of our recent offerings with Dudley and I giving counsel

I would never ever take any credit away from Dudley but we have been a team and I would react stronger if Mr. Day left Dudley out. This becomes legend then Wiki and the public never gets the real story.

I have posted on this before. I will do a blog on the partnership.........

Many thanks Poppa for these great guitars. If you were to write the a comprehensive Official EBMM History, any Internet search should turn it up. A time line of product changes would be great too. Maybe then the legends will be steeped in fact.

The Music Man page on Wikipedia is a bit empty ... I am sure a forumite could write something good (not me my English is so bad ... but I can do the translation in French).
Who's volunteer ???

All of this Silo talk is making me want one...

My next guitar was gonna be a JP6, but I might have to go Silo or SS now...it just keeps looking more and more appealing.

My God... this color is AWESOME with the gold hardware and pickup poles. BP, what can you tell us about this color? What was the original name and when was it offered? I have a bunch of translucent sunburst Silhouettes, a trans teal, a trans red, and a gloss black. I have NEVER EVER seen this finish... I am blown away! Can anybody (BP?) tell us more about this color?

Just some 89 to 90 transition pics. The same "Made in W.Germany" machine heads. The Nov 89 has serial No on the back of the headstock and plain 6 bolt neck plate. The May 90 has no serial no on the headstock,it has been moved to the neck plate. The Musicman logo has also been added. DK showed an earlier spec Silo. When did the 5 bolt transition happen?

The bridge on the hardtail is also the familier one by now .The trem is a schaller. The necks and bodies have dates months apart like DKs. The routing remains the same.

I think that's the one-off specially made for Paul Day (author of article).

It features in this video @ 5min 30s, where he blows plenty of wind up his own ass.
Note the engraving on the back plate / trem cavity cover :

BBC - Imagine: The Story of the Guitar - Video - Paul Day

I've done a search before, but came up short. My question is:

Are the current Silo's actually outfitted with PAF Pro's, or something else? I know that the normal Dimarzio PAF Pro's have Hex, yet these have the traditional style now. Sorry if this is a stupid question.
