Hi guys, long time, been lurking and playing my MM guitars all these years but I need so e quick advice! Going to grab either a black silo special HSS or a sunburst Luke 3 tomorrow at GC blowout, which should I take? Love the look of both, silo has the pickguard which is a nice look and the Luke is a Luke HHS, ahhhh, what do you guys think. Please chime in!

Buy them both... They are on sale!

Seriously the Sunburst Luke 3 at GC is an exclusive and the all rosewood neck is no longer an option... I may snag that now and pick up a silo spec at a later date. The only thing you will be losing on is price in that case, but there are always deals out there to be had.

Very different guitars. If more vintage-style tones are your game, the silo special is great. The bridge pickup is particularly wonderful and the neck pickup will SRV and Hendrix you to a big smile. But the LIII? The rosewood neck is very special, the pickups are fabulous and the onboard boosts adds a lot extra. It's a lot of guitar for the money.

Is the Luke III body bigger, I love the smaller body guitars, but all good words so far.....I didn't realize the Luke has a rosewood neck, I can't wait to play them, the silo I would change the bridge pup for heavier tones anyway, I'm sure one of them will speak to me tomorrow.....

If you don't have an all rosewood neck EBMM you are missing out! They are special! Silo specs are amazing and prob my next guitar, but they aren't going anywhere and that Luke is limited. Buy now what you can't get later is what I'm saying.

Ha, I'm hoping one of them just screams at me so I don't grab both of them! Lol

The Luke III with the rosewood neck is simply amazing. Gotta recommend that one.

Yes, 2 very different guitars, made for different sound profiles and styles of music. From your brief posts, it sounds like you may play heavy music, and if you are looking to play blues/jazz/classic rock/rock, you will want a Silo Special, which are everywhere and always available. The Silo can be set up to play heavy music as well, I swapped the pickups out on my Silo almost immediately. Try them both, see what you like, realize you can get Silo's for sub 1,200 all over the place, never mind even cheaper on Ebay on occasion.

A black Silo is pretty boring, this is what my black Silo looks like now for the last 8 or 9 months, haven't regretted it for a second.

Well I may be one of the few but I hated the feel of the all rosewood necks on the LIII. The maple and roasted maple Silos just feel nicer to me.
