To me now? Much different than a Stingray. The 18 volt preamp has a lot do with it, the pickup is also in the sweet spot. But if you say a "Stingray on steroids" it would be hard not to agree.

Of all the EBMM basses I've owned the single H Bongo is the one that speaks to my heart and my ears. Ever since I watched BP on the SLO video I knew this was the bass.

The room was full of musicians. They aren't used to "getting down". ;)

I will tell you about getting a Bongo 5 H.

I take it to a practice. Show it off a bit.

We play.

We get done.

Band says that sounds good. In fact that is the best bass we ever heard.

That was with rounds that came on it. Tom goes to TI flats.

Band decides Tom needs no other bass.

Tom decides the Bongo rocks and gets it all done too.

Tom is not a very good bass player but the single H kicks band butt so to speak.

It made me dizzy. I had a Candy Red 5H Bongo on order, and switched that to a Dargie 5H. Then, I sold that to Jack, who sent it to Craig, and now it's "owned" by Magnus (even if it's stuck in the black hole that is Nashville at Craig's place).

I'm happy with my 5HSp Dargie Bongo, though. :D

My number one bass is a Bongo 4H BFR Roasted Neck. She will always be my baby. I love the Bongo 4 H's. Great basses. In fact, we just started attending a new church this last week. Actually, we used to attend it prior to me becoming a pastor. They asked me to start playing on their worship team so this Sunday, The Bongo is going to be getting played!

A co-worker today also asked me to stop by their house this Saturday for a jam session and possible recording. Since I have worship practice at 4pm, I'm just going to take the same Bongo to that session as well. If we do any recording, it will be the first time I have recorded with this bass so I am really stoked to see how it will sound!

Not yet. Right before they released the Cobalts, I had just re-strung all of my basses with Ernie Ball Super Slinky's and they are all still pretty bright. However, as soon as these start to die, that is what I am going to be stringing them with next to see how I like them. I really want to put them on my Stingray Classic. For some reason I have noticed that the Classics don't put out as loud of volume as my other MM basses do. I hear the Cobalts have a louder producing tone so I am really wanting to try them out soon!
