Hi all,

Recently joined the MM club after about 13 years of wanting a JP model. I hadn't been playing much in general since college, but looked for deals every so often. Then I finally just made the decision to buy a fully-optioned Mystic Dream JP6, new, as I had waited long enough (and also it would be an excuse to get back into playing regularly)!

After a couple months I am still completely satisfied, but of course itching for a seven string. So I did what any logical person would do, and ordered another new JP, but a JP7 in Stealth Black. Photo of this will be posted soon!

Anyway, my question is one of miniscule importance. On the 6 string, I have a regular trem cavity cover with only holes to poke the strings through. On the 7, the cover has two additional slots near the center (like on most or all new Majesty guitars). Has anyone figured out when this change was made, and why?

Thanks!

Hello, and welcome to the forum. Those slots are a recent offering (2013?). That's so you can put a screwdriver up in there to adjust the tremolo claw screws without the need to remove the cover. Another brilliant innovation. :)

Thank you Tollie, that makes sense.

Now to see if I can live with the difference or if my anal retentiveness will make me swap one out so they both match..!

Welcome and nice JP! Mystic dream is the classic color for this model, very nice. JP7 in stealth black should be badass, do show some pictures when you get it.

Thanks jzeijen! It is the color I really wanted all along. I was unsure about which way to go on the 7 but I figure the flat black look will match the tone. And an ebony neck on the original JP line should be great.

I have an ebony fretboard on my Albert Lee HH, you'll love it. Really smooth playing.
