An SWR 350 chrome face through a 2-15 Fender
cab loaded with EV's.

But when I really want to rattle the windows
it's the HIWATT Custom 200 through an Ampeg
8-10! AAhhhhh, the clouds part.....

I have an Eden 2X10XLT and an Eden 1X18 Sub stack. I have gone through different heads and am thinking that maybe I don't like the Edens!

I've got an old Acoustic 360.

It's got a hellacious built in fuzz box and an electronic tuning fork, that sounds like a cross between a Theramin and an early Moog.

The cabinet is one 18" speaker placed backward.

It has extreme low end.

Fretlesses sound amazing through it.

A vintage gem.

I had an Acoustic 360 - the other band members called it "The Fridge". The amp fried about a year after I had it so I wired it to use as a subwoofer. In fact I checked the speaker out and it is a "Vega" (precursor to Cerwin-Vega, I believe). Those amps are crazy - Onstage you'll be thinking, wow this sure isn't very loud, until you have someone play your bass and walk out about 50 feet and it's thumpin' your chest right down to your soul! That folded horn 18 is def a long throw cab. I think that's what Jaco used until Hartke got ahold of him.

Yeah, that'd be the one, and you're right about standing 50 feet away. I've seen pictures of Jaco with them too. It's overkill for my purposes, but I'd never part with it.

I feel a little out of the loop on this one. I play a Hartke 3500 through a Hartke 210XL on top of a 115XL. I also use a BBE Sonic Maximizer in the loop. This could all change when my MM arrives.

Ampeg B100R user here. It's a great sounding amp with decent volume for its 100 watts. I think the fact that it's so heavy (65Lbs) for a 100 watt 1x15 combo is what makes it sound so good - solid construction.

ooo... A wireless! How does that sound? I read in an article that Les Claypool doesn't like 'em. Do they have any limitations in the frequencies they can deliver?

How are those Wayne Jones cabs?? I just did some gigging with a D210-XLT and liked it but still too farty with a b string at hi volumes, I'm going to be trying out the XST series 210 though. I remember reading about the Jones cabs in BP, they looked like really nice cabs. How do they handle the lo?

I've gigged with a Samson Airline for almost 3 years, and as far as I can tell, my gear sounds exactly the same using the wireless as it does without. I've never had any problems or dropouts.

Most excellent! I must invest in such a device in the future, if I decide that I need to start breakdancing while playing bass!;)

My Stingray get's plugged into either an SVT classic or SVT Pro head into 8x10 cabs via a Sansamp bass driver or into a Trace Elliot 7210 2x10 300W combo with 1x15 extension cab (again via the Sansamp).

I've also used Ashdowns (probably the best sound I've got so far), Laneys (okay-ish) and Marshalls (not great, but then we were talking maybe 100W)

For the last couple of weeks I've been using an Ashdown ABM300 EvoII (I think) head into the Ampeg 8x10. This (IMO) blows the SVT away. So much so that I dropped the Sansamp out of the chain last time (plugged straight in).

The drive control out-grinds the SVT. Not sure about the sub-harmonic though, didn't seem to have that much of an effect. Perhaps it depends on the room you're playing in...

Mobay, how long have you been playing the Hartke 3500?

Are you happy with it?

Having seriously downgraded to a Hartke Kickback 12" a couple of years ago, I am thinking of upgrading again to the 3500 head plus a 1x15. My only concern is using the aluminum cone again, perhaps if I don't leave it in the garage during the winter, then the cone will not give me as much trouble.

No breakdancing for me :) I find it most useful in small bars where we supply the PA and mix from stage. I can wander around and hear the FOH sound and go back onstage and tweak the mix. Of course, it's also great for visiting the guitarist on the other side of the stage and exchanging moves.

LeftyLB,

I've had the 3500 about 3 years. It did blow up when it was just over 1 year old (about 2 seconds out of warranty so I had to shell out about $250 to get it fixed) but I had it repaired and now use a Rack Rider power conditioner to hopefully keep that from happening again. I used to have a GK 400RB with a Hartke 410TP on top of a GK 115 that had a 400 watt EV in it. I found that there was way too much high end with the 410 even after I switched to the big EV. That's why I switched to a 210 in the new rig. Things are much more balanced. I also have a Hartke Kickback 15 for practice and small gigs. There's no comparison between the two. I also leave the BBE on all the time. I like what it does for my sound. One thing I don't have to worry about here in Texas is the cold. Heat is the bane of musicians down here. BTW, I'm a lefty that had to learn right handed and never made the switch.
