My #1 is my only one.
1993 EBMM/EVH, Translucent Sunburst.
Although, I have owned Axis's in the past. A Natural, a Trans Purple, and Cherryburst.
Having owned the Axis and the EVH, I have to say that the Axis is pretty much the same guitar. There is a slight tone difference, and the neck feels slightly different once you get past the 8th fret, but other than that, it's about the same.
I've heard guys with the EVHs say that the EVH is far superior. Sorry, I just don't see it that way. Not enough of a difference to matter. In fact, EBMM really did do the right thing widening the neck slightly. It was an improvement. I suspect most of the perceived superiority of the EVH over the Axis is due to the fact that it bears a signature.
I'm a fan of the music VH, so for me, it's something to own one. I have to honestly say that if you're not a nut like me about the band, the Axis is for you.
