Painted necks are a no-no in my book.

I've seen a few threads here and about where folk get their 'knickers in a twist' about the painted neck on the Bongo in particular.

In my experience with the Bongo the paint finish has no 'stiction' associated with it at all.

Blindfolded I'd be hard pushed to tell the difference in 'slideability' between the Bongo's, my Sterling or any other of my 7 basses.

Oh and one more on the way, a new Tobias Pro 4 with malfunctioning electrics for £100 :D

It'll be sorted courtesy of either EMG or Bartolini.

The "WD" in WD-40 stands for "water dispersant" and is not healthy for wood. It does have lubricant properties but is made mostly of petroleum distillates. Use a dedicated product specifically for guitar neck applications to make sure you don't do damage.

I'll jump right down from the geek box after mentioning that I think the "D" is for "displacement". It was initially created to prevent corrosion.

wd40 is no bueno

I thought this was just joking around.

Let me just say that this is one of the worst ideas I've heard lately, but I am morbidly curious about what that does to the neck of that bass.
