Great pics guys!

Does anyone know the pickup variations on the HB S S version? I'm told it has around 20 because of the push pull switches on the volume and tone controls.

I could be wrong but I don't think it had push pull knobs?

Mike...pickguardless? And miss out on one of the coolest features?

Lets see some more love for the Axis Sport pickguard... :D

Much as they make for an eyecatching detail, I prefer the cleaner look of pickguardless guitars - always have!

Feel free to spread your love to all those 3 / 5 ply combinations... ;)

Now if there was a pickguardless Al, I'd be interested - I've liked all the Anniversary guitars which generally seem to have no guards on them so where's the Al? There's been Silos, StingRays etc if I'm right?

Actually, just thought of the 'um Bongo - that would be cool pickguardless!

I shall keep dreaming...

if think the HSS model is wired this way

1 Humbucker
2 Outer coil of humbucker + middle
3 Neck + Outer coil of humbucker
4 Neck + Middle
5 Neck

In standard, no push pull installed

This is my Sport.

I recently bought a new acoustic, and had to sell on of my Balls to help pay for it. I had the choice of saying goodbye to my first Ball, a trans red Super Sport, or the Sport. As great as the ASS was, this little guitar sounded too good let go. I'm guessing it's a combination of the ash body and hard tail that makes it sound so great. It's definitely a keeper.

Errrrr, maybe mine is the ugliest Axis Sport ever made, but nevertheless this design was only produced on around 20 guitars (that's what Dan from CS told me) and this one was the 2001 winner guitar of the European Battle Of The Bands contest. I had the chance to buy it from the winner at a veeery sexy price and haven't regretted a second. AWESOME player !!!

Hey Glenn,

yepp, that Sport with the MM90s is "the power". Sustains like a dream, sound beefier by heaps than any regular single coil.
I love the hardtail and have an ASS MM90 trem to compare. That one's cool, too, but the rosewood neck, pure ash body hardtail and MM90s to me are "the dark side of the force" :D
Ugliest finish meets hits-you-like-a-hammer tones.
...talking about sustain I did not find THAT much of a difference compared to the MM90s ASS with the trem, but it seems the trem guit sound a little brighter. But then again - it has a maple neck & fretboard...

A little upgrade

inspired by both Rob and Axilla with their Abalone pickguard, I have upgraded my AS with a very nice Abalone Pickguard the original black one being too dark on the purple color

Glenn, that is such a nice looking guitar.

The Axis Sport has really caught my eye of late.

Very tasty indeed.

Sticky, yah man they really are and if you can get one with the MM90's I would highly recommend it man.

I've always seen them as the under appreciated EBMM. :)
