Songs you cannot stand

Hooked on a Feeling - take your pick, BJ Thomas, David Hasselhof or that ridiculous Blue Swede version with the chant "OOga Shaka OOga OOga OOga Shaka OOga OOga" over and over and over and over and over and...

Ah yes....our good friend Jonathan King, responsible for many an aural atrocity, did a nasty version of that in the UK

More from my unfortunate AM radio upbringing

"Love will Keep Us Together" - Really, I thought it was special private time with the silent guy wearing costume shop leftovers from Gilligans Island.

"Wildfire" - She ran calling that because you were singing to her and she was hoping maybe you'd either get trampled by the panicked crowd or hit by a firetruck.

"Thunder Island" - Sha la la la la la THIS M****R F****R
and

"I Write the Songs" - especially because Barry Manilow didn't actually write it.

That "wasn't me" song by Shaggy (I think it was him)

I can safely say that it "wasn't me" who bought your records!!!

Man, this thread can probably go on forever. I actually like a few of the songs mentioned, but I'm not gonna say which ones. Except for Come Sail Away, which I already admitted.

There should be a special place in Hell for those who do horrible covers of great songs, especially when those horrible covers become inexplicably popular and threaten to ruin the original song.

Natalie Merchant, I'm talking to you. "Because the Night" is a great song. Patti Smith's original version rocks. Bruce Springsteen's live version rocks. Your cover is an abomination.

"Roses" by Outkast

dumb dumb dumb

speaking of roses, "The Rose" by Bette Midler. Great song, but I'm not kidding you, *every* time I go to karaoke, some chick who's never sang karaoke before who's normally a wallflower always "breaks out" and sings it, expecting some huge whoop-de-doo afterwards. Usually, it's awful. I can't even remember how the real song goes, all I can hear is a cracking, shy voice singing "some say looooooooooove, it is a riiiiiveeeeeeeerrrrr" aaaak!

And what exactly do you expect from an evening at a karaoke???

Go and see proper musicians and singers.

Oh and of course "The wind beneath my bloody wings"

Slick men in long leather trenchcoats shimmying around the room singing "Mustang Sally"

Drunk 30-something mommies who stand up on the bar and sing "Fever"

Two college frat boys donning wigs and plastic blow up guitars *singing*, yes, singing, the guitar solo to "Highway Star"

you know, Karaoke Stars! Sometimes I get more pumped by these two-bit drunks than I do at big concerts!

lol, that reminds me of a regional skills competition that my friend and I came in the top 2 places. They were playing "Run to the Hills" and we were air guitaring infront of 2000 people, lol.

As per this thread however, I'm gonna say anything by Billy Talent.

"You've lost that loving feeling"
"The greatest love"
"Wide open spaces"

Spring break........drunk stupid obnoxious spoilt brat American students.........Bahamas cruise ship.........karaoke nights.............nurse, nurse, the screens, the screens.

On the other hand, didn't Eric Cartman do a great cover of "Come Sail Away"? I for one think there needs to be a collection of Cartman doing covers of most of the songs listed in this thread.

Absolutely. I couldn't agree more. Cartman's cover of Come Sail Away gave me a whole new appreciation for the song.

Backstreet Boys' "Quit Playing Games with my Heart" or any song that has a keyboard-generated clap sound in the background.
