Sparkles?? HH AL?? (new daylight pic on p4!!)
Last night, as my wife and I were sleeping something roused me. I began to hear an eerie, otherworldy sound from down the hall, around the corner and through the french doors in our living room. It was coming from the area where my guitars stand. I tried to get up to go out and take a look but all I could do was lay in bed listening to those odd sounds, trying to wake up fully. As hard as I tried though, I could not. I was trapped in a half dream state and there I stayed. I was happy to see that Katie was unaware of the sounds as it surely would have frightened her.
Suddenly, a briiggghhttt blue light appeared. It was blinding and filled the entire apartment with sparkling shades of brilliant, summer day, sky blue. It was so bright that it simply absorbed all other colors, all you could see was blue shapes. There was a cool swirling breeze and strange and lovely scent in the air. I remember thinking that I know that scent, but I could not place it.
It seemed that the noises, the light and breeze lasted for an incredibly long time but frankly, i've never been any good at judging time in those semi-conscious moments. It could have been an hour or a minute or a year... I do remember one last second of bright, brilliant blue and then... it was over. My home was fine, my wife lay sleeping undisturbed next to me and the event, whatever it was, was over. I knew that I could wake myself fully at that moment, but i didn't. I slept.
When the alarm went off, I had forgotten about the events of the night before, but as I brushed my teeth, it came rushing back to me, not as a dream would but as a memory. I threw down my toothbrush, toothpaste and the flannel for my face and ran as fast I as I could down the hall around the corner through the french doors to the guitars. Somehow I knew some clue, some idea, some... thing was left there for me. And it was...
So that is how it happened. So much of the telling of this story is in the words, which I intentionally transcribed before that nights memory fades. Soon I suspect, I won't know if it was a dream and eventually I probably won't even remember that night at all. But the proof is here with me now and as much as the words can tell you HOW this happened last night, only the pictures can tell you WHAT happened...
I'm really not a good photographer and the indoor night lighting doesn't help. This weekend i'll get some better shots!
