Is it possible to do a special order? I'd like a hybrid of the Classic Stingray and Current Stingray.

In a nutshell:

Contoured Body
retro burst
no pickguard
3 band EQ
Maple fingerboard
highly figured maple neck

Can this be done?

Modern one can be in Vintage Sunburst finish that 95% close to the retro as for me. As I know the stingray without a pg is anniversary or limited runs only.
There is precise spec for the modern one. I do not think you can get some kind of classic/modern hybrid

well, funny enough, my favorite finish is the Honey Burst which is EXACTLY what I have in the lowly (not to be taken seriously) SBMM. The only other thing I'd do different is go with a Maple finger board.

Mine is honey burst and it is AWESOME finish. Maple looks very good with it. But if you do not like it there is rosewood replacement.

The bass pictured is just a representative sample. you can get a single H, HS, double H, H with piezo, and 2 or 3 band EQs.

What you will need to do is contact a dealer and work with them, EBMM, like most companies, does not sell directly (as far as I know). The dealer will call EBMM and find out what can be done.

Also what you are thinking of is just a standard stingray H. The Classic Editions, as far as I know, are only available in the completely "classic" form.

Have you posted pics of it, yet? I STILL wish the Classic neck was an option, but I can live with it as is.
what about the classic neck do you want that you can't get on the Standard neck? the fingerboard radius? The birdseye maple?

modern SR does not have any other neck options. Only regular maple

So it's a matter of choice for you) contoured body + maple or non-contoured body + bird's eye/flame maple

I don't think they'll put on the different decal, but what you are looking for is a stingray 4 with a birdseye maple neck with a birdseye maple fretboard. That may be possible. You'd have to have to call to find out. Also the classic neck is tinted slightly and has a high gloss polyester. the standard neck is gun stock oiled and then waxed.

Best bet would be to find a used one from around late 80's to early 90's. Those often had gorgeus birdy eye or flamed maple necks, just by luck of draw. Some well cared for examples pop up every now and then in the classifieds.

I'll check with a dealer about the neck. As it looks now, I'd have to take an SR4 with the plain neck as opposed to the SR4 Classic with the non-contoured body. It's not a matter of preference, but a matter of pain.

SR with contoured body looks cooler for me. And 11" neck is very comfortable.
