SR pickup problem

I decided to crack open my 92 SR4 a few minutes ago -- haven't had it out in months. I noticed that it was humming pretty bad through the amp when the volume pot was turned up, so I took a look inside the cavity; no problems there. I tapped a screwdriver on the pickup and noticed that only one set of coils seems to be working -- the one closest to the bridge. Is it possible that one coil went out and the pickup is indeed functioning in a single coil mode? I don't really have time tonight to pull the pickup out for inspection, but I will when I get home tomorrow. Any thoughts? btw, it still souds great, which seems weird.

Well, I went ahead and popped the pickup out and hit the solder joints with a hot iron. That fixed the problem! :) I guess it was a loose or cold joint causing the problem. Anyway I'm going to be tired tomorrow, but I knew I'd be thinking about it all day at work anyway.
