I'd love to hear a good demo of the tone of this thing. I bet it sounds great. I'm really liking it and can't wait to try one out.

The only slightly negative impression I have is that it is being pitched as a 'girls' guitar. I understand why because of the obvious artist endorsement and untapped market potential. It would be a shame if some guys were put off it though. It wouldn't worry me one bit but may be a factor for some of the younger guys who still care about these things?

That makes as much sense as saying something is "lead guitar" or a "rhythm guitar". No girls think will it's a 'girls' guitar, it'll be just 'a guitar', made by one of the most respected guitar companies in the business, designed by an exceptionally talented and savvy artist (in the all senses of the word 'artist'), who just happens to be a woman. Guys who dismiss this as a 'girls guitar' will, IMO, have an IQ no higher than their ankles.

Whoa, easy tiger, LOL! I'm not suggesting it should be marketed or known as a 'girl's guitar, in fact my pov is exactly the same as yours, my comment was a 'slight' concern, quite legitimate in my view, that it could be viewed as such by some macho guys who may be put off and they would be the ones missing out. It's not keeping me awake at night and personally I've never based my guitar buying/playing choices on artist association or endorsements even though my two EBMM favourites (AL and JP's) are AE'd, I don't particularly listen to either of these guys nor do I try to play like them as I'm not that skillful but it doesn't stop me appreciating a good instrument. By the same token I may very well buy one of these St Vincent models but that doesn't mean I'll have to start wearing lipstick or subscribing to Bunty for Girls each month.

For the record BP did state a few pages back that it was deliberately designed from a ladies point of view. I'm sure most of us applaud and support this, but even so that alone would be enough to put off some male buyers with 'ankle-high IQ's'. I can't put it in any simpler terms than that.

ok here is the deal...I see no gender...Annie doesnt either...she made a post on twitter about it fitting a certain part of womans anatomy but that was not the mind set with the guitar. Its a guitar designed by a guitarist that happens to be female...but also I sure there are things that us dad bods will find very comfy....haaha

@coldsummer - I was referring to some of the internet warriors who made this comment. Frankly I'm really tired of the whole internet macho sexist dude thing. Not shooting at you mate, at all, or at anybody on this forum. Sorry if I came off too strong. I'll blame the jet lag.

(Yes, I'm back in Paris. I'd still rather be swimming in Lake Erie). When vacation ends. :(

lets all continue to communicate. this has been a great thread. There are only a few comment that would make me throw a pie in someones face! hahahaha

This gender issue is a bigger issue if you really want to open it up. Neither Annie or I particularly want to but it is unavoidable. I have grown up in this business and spent my life in it and cannot ever remember a guitar that was designed from the ground up by an artist that happened to be female. Very strange. Sort of embarrassing for our industry. Im not talking about painting flowers or painting them pink or taking an existing guitar and making a few wiring changes...I talking white paper ground up. So this is a story.

There are obvious marketing angles you could play if you targeted it "designed for females by females" but that never ever interested me. Thanks to Jessie in our office I have really admired Annie/StVincent. I think that we joined forces because we clicked and the team clicked and we designed a cool guitar together. Annie really doesn't want to focus to be on anything but the guitar.

Religion and politics are not allowed here. There is a sociopolitical conversation that is not suited for here.

You should make a YouTube movie about the design process with Annie... Hopefully you had cameras rolling the whole time. :)

My 1st week back at work after being laid up for 6 weeks with a mystery virus obviously took it's toll on my sense of perspective :-/ Not really how I like to respond, sorry.

Thanks BP for your responses, I really didn't mean to stir up the pot, just thinking out loud. It is a cracking new guitar and a brave departure from the traditional conservative approach and I love you all the more for it. Still very excited to try it out!

If it comes with a surf green paint job and maple board, I will jump ALL over that thing.

Im sure im gonna catch some grief for this... but this guitar really captures the same vibe and feel (visually, and potentially aurally) of the PGM fireman. Its "different" but I really dig it.

Oh dude! I also had a 6 week mystery virus earlier in the year. Rough time, kinda scary at times too. Took a while to get back close to 100%. Hope you're feeling better and stay better!

I also hope we get to see demo videos with Annie, Hunter Hayes, and Steve Morse and Albert Lee, like they did with Luke and Petrucci.
I already saw the video with Petrucci, but never heard a thing about some Luke footage. Damn I would love to see it.

Not sure for the maple board, but the surf green paint job is a great idea (Bob123 is a man of good taste !).

Personally, I hope that all the macho guitarists will make the association Saint Vincent Guitar = Girl Guitar, and in this case I will surely buy one.
It will be a nice way to say "Allez tous vous faire foutre" (DrKev can translate this in English ...) to all the guys that know only 2 brands of guitar (F & G) and 3 models (the T, the S and the LP).
It's one of the thing I like with my AL : the astonishment I read in the eyes of most of the guitarists when I pop my AL out of its case ...

Agreed- I love the reaction to the AL. Then people pick it up and it's like, "wow, this thing is amazing". I'm sure this guitar will do the same.

Yes fbecir, this is why I love my AL also. I'm thinking the same. St.Vincent is the right guitar for me. :)
