Hi everyone. Thought I would post here as I'm having a problem upgrading my new Sterling Cutlass Short Scale.

Everything is coming along fine except for one thing: The tremolo plate is not hardened steel and I'm having trouble finding a suitable 2-point replacement (with a hardened plate of course). String spacing is 1-1/16" (52.5mm). That's not the problem, it's the post spacing. I measured the post spacing and it appears to be 52-54mm. The narrowest spacing I can seem to find is 56mm (Gotoh 510 series and a couple other, less-desirable options).

Anybody have any ideas here?

Thanks!

Possibly! It's pricey but looks nice and seems to be well engineered. I've emailed them with a question, the answer to which will determine if that bridge will work for me.

Thanks 3MB!

Hmm ... looking at the Vega again, I'm not sure I'd want to spend that much on a trem when I could spend half of that for a nice one with the correct string spacing and reposition the posts. I've repositioned posts before but would rather find a trem that would work without having to do that if I can.

Just came across the BladeRunner trem, which has a ever-so-slightly wider string spacing but not enough to hurt. That looks good to me, and if the posts need to be moved I can either move them - or just screw the trem's mounting plate to the guitar in the right location.

I found that by looking up Vega trem and reading some reviews. In one of the reviews was a link to the BladeRunner. I think I'm going to get one of those.

Thanks again 3MB!

The plate isn't hardened. That spells "worn out" pretty fast for the bearing edges. I've ordered a BladeRunner, which won't have that particular problem since there aren't any bearing edges.
