i noticed that with the extreme heat this year i had to adjust my truss rod on my sterling twice over a few month period.

but yeah, it took about 5 seconds each time, no big deal.

A screwdriver does the job for me. I have also used a hefty allen wrench (the little ones, like for your bridge saddles, will bend).

At the factory, we use a small screwdriver and cut the tip off, but an allen wrench works well also.

i got small pocket phillips that fits perfect !!!!! i left the tip on it though.......& now it doubles as a screwdriver !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

extreme temp changes is not that big a deal. However, I have found that in my personal and professional life that un-uniform temperature changes can have undesired permanent effects. If the guitar is hot in the case just close the case and let it cool down slowly. The same is true for cold. Even if the only reason is to make me feel better, I allow the ax to aclimate before playing.

i actually used that tiny allen wrench that came with my bass once, it didn't bend.

Cold is worse, because of condensation. That's what the silica packs are for.

Possible dumb question here....do truss rod adjustments affect intonation?

Not a dumb question at all.

When I'm doing a setup, intonation is the LAST item on the bill, so if a truss rod tweak does affect intonation, I'd never know it.

It sure changes the pitch, but intonation is a function of length between nut and saddle.....hmmm.

I don't know. Experts?

Heat may affect some things but the only heat you need worry about it when it gets hot enough to melt solder.

Bridge/saddle height affects intonation so I am without quite proving sure that relief will have some effect on it.

Then again I ain't no expert.

I do try though LOL.
