Hi everyone,
I was wondering the other day what it would be like to have a JP6 (or JP50 in this case, as the EBMMs are designed to JP's specs but the Sterling line I guess doesn't need to fullfil that condition) with the body of the Standard JP6 but the cutaways of the BFR JP6. I would find it great, what about you? I thought about this because I find the forearm contour very comfortable and the overall shape of the JP50 to be very comfortable, but would like a bit more space in the higher register (especially for sweeps). I know it's highly improbable that this will be done by SBMM but I think it would be fantastic, and if a piezo was added, WAY BETTER!! (I do understand, however, that the prices would go really up and you could buy a used JP6 for the same cash of an overseas-made guitar).

This has been denied by Pat Park, IIRC, for that very reason.

The prices would get so high, there would be no point.

You've basicly answered your own question, get a used JP6! :)

I imagine a lot of the instruments available here in the forum "For Sale"-thread are like new.

Yeah, I know, that, thanks anyway, but the thread was meant to point towards a guitar which was like the Standard JP6 (or JP50) but with the cutaways of the BFR model (keeping the forearm contour of course).
BTW, what is IIRC?

IIRC, If I Recall Correctly

I'd love a BFR JP50 too, but it doesn't seem likely to have a budget BFR... :p

I'm not Pat Park though...

Yeah, it's awesome, of course the finish and the colors wouldn't de the same (quilted finish costs are high I suppose, or the appear to be) but I'd love to have a BFR-like JP50, don't care if it doesn't have the piezo, the quality of the SBMM instruments is simply outstanding for that price range. Anyhow, I'm still happy enough that I (we) can have a budget, still well made and good quality, JP6-like guitar. Lets see what Winter NAMM brings us! I don't think they'll build a BFR JP50 but I still pray for that to happen, lol.

Well to be honest I would not hold my breath on it as I still get a bit puzzled at how high the quality is on those models, so I doubt they would push the envelope even more. Every review I have read on that series has been stellar, not only in magazines but more importantly user reviews like on HC. I find it amazing that they can offer that kind of quality for the price.

If EVH can build a wolfgang overseas so it's more affordable, I think a JP50 BFR is possible, but it will no be cheap.
the issue is it'll have to be in a $1000 range, so will it meet the SBMM mandate for keeping the cost low for their target market?

Yeah, to be honest, as I said before, I HIGHLY doubt it will be made. Still it would be awesome, and maybe, if they decided to make it, they could experiment a bit with it, like putting an unfinished neck on it instead of a finished/painted neck.

I don't know, but I'd guess (not a very complex thought anyway) that if some new models are introduced, these may be based on the "best sellers" of EBMM (so, if the Reflex is selling well, I see no reason for them to not do it, still we've got to wait).

Pat needs to work on his evil laughter. Just too nice of a guy to get away with something like that. :D

Can't wait for Winter Namm. I couldn't be happier with the many students that pick up SBMM's on my recommendation. There's something for everyone, and they love em! Such great instruments for the student who's unsure of dropping alot of money on the first guitar.

The OP was talking about body shape..... considering that, couldn't a 'BFR' JP50 in reality be a JP50 with the body shape of a BFR? Same body and neck woods shared between the two? That would keep costs down (I think) yet still offer variety. It would probably cannibalize sales between the two though.

I'd love to see a 7 string jp50..... or would it be a JP57? JP70? This will certainly be an interesting NAMM!

well the piezo maybe expensive, but the nanomag? the epiphone ultra II is a chambered les paul with pcb and this piezo pickup called nanomag, for me it's good sounding, and it goes for something like 500 euros

Anyway, I would prefer a jp50-7 string or a mystic dream jp6
or yea, the bfr body would be a nice one. with a photoflamed top, like epi's... great

and what about shields inlays?
