Curious to know what you think. :)

Sterling HH still wins for sheer tonal versatility on the fly as it gets TONS of tones fast. Bongo 5HH still wins for best overall tone with that upper mid range warmer strong punch tone (But you dont get nearly as many good tones)

Big Al is cool though, tougher to dial in and a more vintage vibe overall, not as tonally versatile as the Sterling HH. Definitely a different tone & I like it!

I just bought a new Sterling rosewood neck 5HS. Then a used Bongo 5HH rosewood neck. I'm closely comparing the two and will end up selling one of them. I've had Bongos before. But I have to say the Sterling is impressing me so far. I'm hearing more rich overtones in the notes, the Bongo may be darker in comparison. The setup on the Sterling is really playable. I'm tweaking the Bongo to get it to be as good. I want to like the Bongo more because it's still so cool. But the Sterling, in its traditional shape, is not as sexy but may be the better instrument. The switching provides a set of useable tones on the fly too. This notion that the Sterling is more aggressive than the Stingray seems very slight to me. This is a Sterling love thread, so Ill I thought Id share my insights so far.

Sterling HH ate it up last night. All the tones I needed. Starting to reclaim the #1 spot over the Bongo now!

Need fivers for the current band. I'll have to see if theres a set where I dont need a fiver & give it a whirl but its unlikely. I bring the Al out to play the fun stuff at home.

The pickup switch on the Sterling is just SO much easier than buttons, blend etc
