why do people not like Guitar One here? i think its a pretty good mag. been getting it for a long time, since about 1992 when it was GFTPM. Guitar World i dont like.

Someone should come out with a true Guitar Magazine. Something that represents quality, like JD Powers & Associates.
I guess the problem would be that it would become an EBMM magazine with maybe a few other manufacturers!

is Guitar One that bad? as a teacher i really like it, its chock full of lessons and hardly any gossip. Guitar world on the other hand....

Well it is true that most of these mags are PACKED with ads. I actually like them though - because they keep me on top of what's being released. If I see something interesting, then I go off and look for a 'real' review. I have also learned a few things from the lessons in G1. They do run some real junk stories though. Several have been discussed here - like the guitarists that need to retire, best guitarists, etc. I'll never forget the article (although I don't know what issue it is in) where they were talking about influential modern guitarists, and right smack in the middle of the list was Michelle Branch. She may be nice, and she may write some decent songs, but an influential guitarist? It just didn't work for me.

i see your point Mike, and agree, i guess in those types of issues there's always some cool lesson with Robben Ford or Albert Lee even, something like that, and i forget all about the crappy things in that issue!!!!!

I had a look at a guitar world just recently, I noticed they don't even use traditional notation anymore.
