so i've got a several music man stingray classic basses and its time to downsize (unfortunately). Really just don't have the room anymore and just going to keep one. I prefer the basses with maple necks rather than rosewood. However, the bass i want to keep has the wrong neck.

Is there any reason why i can't/shouldn't switch the necks out on these 4 string basses. They are the same models. I don't see a serial number on the neck (like fenders).

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'd swap them out. I don't really see what the big deal would be. They will bolt up the same and they are your basses after all. I guess if the person who wanted to buy the other bass ran the serial number, the fact that the neck had been switched would surface. I would just be honest in your for sale listing. Even w the switched neck it's still a Classic.
