stingray pickup height question...

i just set up my 4 string ray for the first time in 4 years. i used tohave the action set way high and now i have it set much lower so i need to lower the pickup. i'm just wondering if there is a general height(off the pickguard) where i should start or what the measurement is when they come from ernie ball?
