Well I'm puzzled. Since you use the approx .125 throught .060" strings from a 5-string set, you have extra tension on all your strings, 1 semitone on the low string and 2 semi on all the rest. That should be OK.Mynameismud said:The tuning is: CF#BE Open tuning for our lazy guitarists
The nut slots are filed out. Thats what I meant with the modified saddle(bad english)
Theres no difference between a fretted tone and the open one.
I've never put BEAD strings on my StingRay, but have done it to various 4-string basses with no problems. I've had the tension raised as high as DGCF using the BEAD strings. StingRays have a very sharp tone anyway. Maybe the increased tension creates a tone that's not very useful? One thing though, the B-string tightened up to C should be no problem at all. It should sound great with that slight increase in tension.
Try a new 9v battery? Beats me.
