Well, they compared it to other basses of the same vintage and pickup configuration, plugged it into a bunch of different bass amps, replaced the preamp, sacrificed stuff, etc. So the good news is that it's got a new preamp, and everything on it checks out ok. The
Bad news, if you can call it that, is that the electronics on that version of the HS with the stacked single and everything apparently will have some hum on most positions due to how the in-phase and out of phase stuff works with the pickups and preamp design. It should be on it's way back to me tomorrow, so I should have it late next week.
Since technically they didn't fix a problem, they didn't charge me for anything but shipping, and even threw in a free T-shirt. Now that is what I call a standup company. My next bass will be another EBMM. Question is, what exactly will it be. Another SR5? Bongo 5? Reflex? I'm thinking SR5 with Alnico pickups, rosewood fretboard, maybe another HS, or maybe an HH or H.
