I just grabbed a used Sub 1 guitar. It was modded so available pretty cheap. I have some questions about these guys. I know the original pickups are korean made and I can see the pots are small import pots but he switch is the standard Music Man 3 way switch. I assumed that the trem bridge on this was the regular Music Man bridge but without the "Music Man" logo etched into it because it looks exactly the same and seems high quality. But the website (using the wayback machine) says "Music Man style bridge" when all of the other models on the site say "Music Man bridge". That implies that perhaps they are not USA made MM parts. Anyone know? It's obvious that the tuners are not MM made as that style was not on any other model.

I fixed one up for a friend a while back ... if I recall, it looked like the standard MM bridge. You could always email MM and ask.

I had one for a while back in the day - and HH with tremolo. It came to me as part of a trade deal and I wanted it so I could have a humbucker guitar that was pretty close in feel to the Silhouette Special (SSS version) that was my main guitar at the time; this was in 2008. I don't remember any markings on the bridge that indicated where it was made, but then again I never took the back plate off since the holes on EBMM back plates line up nicely with the holes in the trem block. As @beej says it looked just like the standard MM bridge but without the "Music Man" on it.

I just thought it was odd that it said Music Man "style" bridge. It seems to be identical to my Axis Sport. Maybe it was listed that way just because it wasn't labeled "Music Man"

I wonder if anyone knows what the paint is. I would love to do some finish repair if I could find this finish/color somewhere.

The previous owner managed to damage the body paint ?
This textured finish is the hardest paint I've ever seen on a guitar ! Nevertheless the neck paint is very thin (on my SUB, you can see the bare wood now).

They routed for a battery. I have some options 1. Leave it as is 2. Plug and try to spot finish (if I had access to the paint) or 3. Make it a more professional battery route even though I don't need one. I am not stressed because I got it for a very low price.

The finish on this neck is also bare in many spots. I can see how thin it was applied.

I'd leave the battery box- clean it up as best you can. If you can find a Silent Circuit, you could always wire it up with a noiseless coil split :)
