Okay, so it was a stretch to make a reference that no one will get...

It's actually just three pickguards, including the original black.

Original black:

Hmmm.

Sorry. I don't like them!

Black for me!

I'd guess that Black Pearloid or Python might look good though.

While there is much to be said for the fancier EBMM pickguard choices, one should not underestimate the sheer classiness of plain black.

I'm glad the 07 LEs are coming with plain black pickguards. Anything fancy would distract from the sparkles.

I think shipping with a b/w/b pickguard was the way to go with the Dargie Delights.

But, I know I will get use out of both of the other pickguards when my mood changes. The cream is a bit darker in real life and compliments the Dargie green nicely.

oooooo those look great! I too like the cream pearl. I think I'll get a plain cream pickguard for mine.

I think the black looks very classy, but I also like the abalone; it livens things up a bit imo. For me, the cream pearl would be a definite no-no

I'm wondering how some sort of reddish pearloid would look.

Something like this?

That would work as long as you wanted to be subtle. :D

It's been interesting to see people's takes on this. Some people feel "Oh, the cream/abalone is the best," followed by a post with, "Ew, cream/abalone is the worst." Everyone universally seems to think black looks good, though. Which just goes to show you--black sells, and EB/MM knows best.

I know Dargin tried all kinds of pickguards and the black was the universally accepted default pickguard for the Dargie Delight, and it's hard to argue with it - it looks good, even to someone (me) who's into the more esoteric pickguards.

But of course we HAVE to experiment with the pickguard colors. It's what we do.

Well, without the actions of people like us, the plastics market would surely crumble.

It's a calling, really.

Do you have a Bongo? If it looks like you have to take the strings off to change the pickguard, you shouldn't be messing with pointy tools in the first place. ;)

The only MM bass that I would probably remove the strings for to change the pickguard would be an SR 5, and that's just because the controls are attached to the pickguard. But, I'm sure you could even get away with changing that one without removing it if you were careful (ie lazy).
