Andy you seem to be using this thread as a vent for being left handed and we try to take care of lefties as best we can and at a very small premium.

I have no problem with EBMM's attitude to left handers, especially when compared with PRS and Gibson who no longer make them.

I was trying to point out that buying a high end guitar is much more of a gamble for a lefty since it's so rarely possible to try before you buy.

It's a gamble that paid off for me with EBMM and G&L, less so with PRS and not at all with Gibson.

Don't be sceptical. Give her some time. 1500€ guitars can't be bad, especially Music Man guitars. Fender's quality is overvalued.

Much as we all love this company, fact is guitars are just very personal and emotional things. Someone's favorite is another's no biggie.

I know I can never grow to love any model in the music man lineup as much as the Luke, and I'm pretty sure many here would say something similar about their particular favorite.

That said, I'm sure glad I found the Luke...which happened to also be the first EBMM i played.

Crewood....after reading your post and all the responses...sorry you don't like the "feel" as it is an important aspect to me as well. However, there are other wonderful models offered by EBMM that may suit your needs.

I can't believe no one has suggested you look up DaveB here on the forum as he works at Machinehead in the UK. He is a stand up guy and can possibly work something out for you. Send him a PM....he is a straight up guy and will help you out as best as he can. I am not sure how far away he is from you....but, it is worth a shot and he is an authorized EBMM dealer. Good luck and stick around.

I hear-ya my left-handed brother. A lot of the forum members obviously don't understand the curse of being a left-handed guitarist. I completely understand how Crewood is feeling. To put into perspective, it is a moment of surprise to see ANY left handed guitar in a shop, never mind a nice one, and I suspect this is what happened to Crewood upon eyeing up the Axis.

As it happens, I'm soon going to the same dealer as Crewood to probably buy the lefty Luke or mm90 Axis they also have and will likely be trading in a Hamer Studio in the process. A HAMER STUDIO. Why? Cause the guitar ain't for me. In case you haven't played a Hamer, there isn't many better guitars you can buy, and thats just on tone alone. Plus they cost a hell of a lot more than a MusicMan. But it just ain't for me, cause I had to buy the thing without trying it first. I've wasted so much money because I'm left handed.

Right now I'm thinking about buying the MusicMan on playability alone, even if I'm not mad about the tone, because I have to have something I at least enjoy playing. If that sounds crazy to you, welcome to the world of the left-handed guitarist.

Rant over :)

Indeed. I just sold a Gibson 335. it was good enough for BB King, Alvin Lee etc etc....it cost a fortune.....I just couldn't stand the sound of the thing. If I'd been able to play before ordering...........

It's a whole different world playing lefty.......the really upsetting thing is that I'm not even left-handed, it's just the way I first picked up the tennis racket when I was 7 years old pretending to be Hank Marvin.

None of this is EBMM's fault of course, they do cater pretty well for the left handed.......one of the reasons I decline to join in the ritual Fender abuse is that they provide a very good range of L/H models......they're not rubbish, unplayable or any of the other nonsense that gets spouted on here.

Perhaps we should have a sticky thread at the top of the page for people who want to abuse other makes of guitar. It's noticeable that Sterling Ball does not criticise other guitar makers in his posts.

And welcome to the fora Ted........good to see another lefty & a Supergrass fan too!!

Thanks Andy, I'd been watching your guitars on ebay (like every other lefty guitar freak!) and I've been kicking myself for not buying your sparkle silhouette. Man you sold that thing for a serious bargain, which is kind of a shame.

When comes to providing for lefties, just compare Ernie Ball with Gibson. And then laugh. the price of 335's has rocketed since they stopped making em, even up to the level of PRS's. Ernie Ball guitars are probably the most common lefties around actually. I don't think any of the lefties here would ever knock them cause we appreciate the quality of their guitars for sure.

I think the point of the thread was in the word "new" and it's obvious that if you buy anything new, car, guitar, TV, don't like it for whatever reason then try to sell it 3 weeks later you're going to lose money.
Maybe the EBMM forum is not the right place to post about it, as it's surely not an EBMM problem....it's basic economics.

Andy Please lighten up of the defense of Crewood. He really doesnt need any. Im sorry the guitar didnt work out for him. The title of the thread was that he would never buy a NEW guitar again.

I dont like bashing any serious guitar. I love choices. I wish some would take more time making them and sometimes am astonished at the ease in which they can sell them but what the hell...I am doing and making exactly what I dreamed of.

 You are a righty and you play lefthanded? What a trip.

I have only known one other person who did that. I had a friend who cut his left hand up real bad as a toddler. He couldn't move his fingers well on his left hand, so he learned to play bass lefty. He also perferred stringing righty basses up side down too.

Not that this post needs more input . . .

I own a beautiful Custom Shop Strat, which I like very much. I appreciate the musical history and contribution that guitars like this have made since the '50's, and I also appreciate the "classic" tone characteristics that a good SC coil guitar can bring. (I also like great HB guitars, just so you know.)

Having said that, since I've owned the Strat, I've purchased a) an Axis SS MM90 in black redburst, and b) a Luke II in Rad Red. Both these play like butter, are beautifully made, and exude quality control. They both also sound wonderful, each in their own way.

Seems to me that the variety that a mix of different guitars offers is largely the point of owning more than one guitar. I don't play the Strat nearly as much as the Music Man's, but when I take it out, I remember why I liked it and bought it in the first place (and it cost way more than either of my MM's.)

I think there's always room for instruments that feel and sound a bit different, and that's exactly why you can't just have one. Just my .02.

Wouldn't you just love to be the person to invent the guitar that that every single player in the world loves ....
but then wouldn't everyone kind of sound the same ...

Your selection of guitar is such a personal choice, width of neck, tone, sound, weight, shape, colours etc. - you'll never find a manufacturer that pleases every single customer ... like cars, bikes, clothes etc.

When I was playing 6 strings, I really wanted to play strats. Richie Blackmore played a strat, Malmsteen played a strat, Pete Townsend, Frusciente, Morello, Richard Thompson - all strat players.
But strats never felt comfortable to me, I ended gravitating towards the Gibson neck.

But isnt it great having that choice as a consumer. We are lucky that companies such as Musicman exist to offer us a choice of the instruments we play.
And even though I never was able to gel with a strat, a few years ago I started playing a tele, which I found personally a lot more comfortable to play. So , try out some more of the range of fantastic guitars that EBMM provide - you might find one that suits you a bit more that the Axis - or try to persevere with the Axis, you may get used to the neck quicker than you think now,

Anyway, welcome to the forums - hope you stick around.

Just a couple of questions for Crewood.Looking at the pic of your guitar and your location did you get your Axis from guitars4you ? If so they dont they have in stock a lefty luke and silhouette special if so I was just wondering did you try the other lefties and what made you decide on the axis?
Also I'm sure I read somewhere that Jimi Hendrix was right handed anyone know about this??
