I own a SBMM SUB, it cost me £259 (got a wicked deal) but is easily £900 worth of bass, its not quite up to its biggest brother but its definately the spritely youth of the family keen to be just like his big brother! I have started to notice that the neck has got some flame figuring!?! When I first bought her it didn't have any at all, I looked up and down the neck the night I got it (don't really know why but I did) and there was nothing, which has totally baffled me. I don't really understand how the figuring comes out on wood so I thought I'd ask here. I noticed a little bit last month and just thought it was dirty, but I noticed the patch had doubled in size, this evening. The necks got a gorgeous grain as it is but this flaming makes it even better. Its a patch about 6-8" long down the neck close to the 12th fret, obviously at the price point these basses go they didn't treat the necks to bring out the figuring, probs rather just slap the lacquer on them and get them out for sale, but this patch is growing more and more and its baffling me how it is, but fingers crossed it'll grow right up the neck and give me a beautiful neck!

If anyone can tell me how it works, and wether my Stingray is defying the odds or not that would be fantastic!

Could be sheer luck! I have a 3EQ Stingray H and it has lovely Birdseye/flame sections on the neck and board.

I know its probably patheticly small to you guys but on a £250 bass I'm chuffed, let's hope she 'grows' loads more flame!
