Another idea would be to rent a bus and go to ernie1966 to check out his collection. Almost as nice as looking at the grand canyon

I have the same issue in my town, but to put things in perspective, my local music store's managers have both told me that if they made their profits solely on guitar sales, they couldn't keep the doors open. The things that do keep the doors open are low-end guitars, low-end amps, and accessories

I also own a music store and the manager at your local shop is so right!
It's too expensive to sit on high end guitars and amps and then hope to make a decent profit with the competeitive nature of the internet. I know many stores who buy low end guitars, and can make a better PROFIT, then the high end stuff. Profit is profit. It doesn't matter to many how you make it when you have bills to pay.
