I gotta give props to the manager, Scott. He's been there forever and really seems to know his stuff. (I find its a rarity for those guys to stay with GC for very long)...When rob brought his 20th Silo to be worked on, Scott was the only one there who knew it was a Silo. He really seems to appreciate the quality of EBMM guitars. I also think he knew that one of us was going to be leaving with the guitar today. :D

Silo Spec owners please chime in, if you will. The trem looks as if it were raised up at the "mounting posts" a couple millimeters. The back end is not level, and it's angled down. Should the trem be level and be flush with the body? That's what I'm guessing. Should I just drop the bridge down and loosen up the spring claw?

I'm not a Silo Spec owner, but I've done guitar setups billions of times...
The tremolo should be level. Loosening the springs should do the trick.
The reason for this could be that the guitar was restrung with a lighter gauge strings than the ones it was setup with.

Thanks guys!

That's one MAJOR BEAUTY !!!
Congrats Rob on that "steal" :D
The PG should be black pearl if I'm not blind. You can see some pearl purple Silo Special featuring a moonstone PG in my first thread http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-guitars/23719-addict-noob-says-hello-world.html if you like.

Again - congrats man - she's a queen among the Silos !

Thanks Axel for that Moonstone picture. It looks almost like Abalone. Very cool! That purple is great!:D

Thanks again, guys. :D

Okay, this axe is seriously in danger of becoming my #1.

I said that the bridge pickup isn't quite as "metal" as my JP's bridge pickup. Uh...I was talking out my nether orifice. That's a load of bull, as I found out this evening. I hadn't really tried the guitar through my amp very much after I bought it. Most of my initial comments were based on my experience with the guitar in the store, playing through whatever settings I dialed in on that amp by that F-company that's supposed to be for He Who Shall Not Be Named Here. This evening, I tweaked the settings a bit on my amp, and boy-o, let me tell you. This thing smokes! I can get pretty darn metal. But...I can clean up the sound and give that gorgeous, shimmering, liquid, bubbly single coil tone out of the neck and middle. Then, there's also the fantastic parallel settings. Riviera Paradise meets Little Wing on those single coils. Those are sounds I never could get through my JP. This guitar is awesome! :D:D:D:D It's far more versatile than I previously thought. It's getting me the funky, jazzy, bluesy clean I like. Plus, it gives me enough metal when I want it. I had been hoping to get a JP/Str@t kind of hybrid. Well, here it is, baby. Here it is.:D

Next time I go test out an amp, I think this baby is coming with me. :D

You know, I was thinking of spreading the gospel a little at the local Music-Go-Round store where I bought myself an EB Polypro strap this evening. The guys were asking what I bought. I was struggling between telling them more about the axe and running home to play it, but I couldn't wait to get home to play the Silo Spec a little. So, I just kept my mouth shut. Then, I had my Silo Spec epiphany. Now, I really want to spread the gospel! :D
